Apologies for posting this here. I visit this forum most and didn’t know the correct place so please bear with me.

I have big fingers so often press the wrong keys in error. So, when correcting this happens
”I have bin”
g Whilst deleting the ”n” to correct to “big” the “n“ stays but the “g“moved on its own accord to the next line.
“I have big fin”. here the autocorrect included my original error so the replacement word became “fi finger” ( the autocorrect actually offered “finfinger“ but this autocorrected to “fi finger” when I chose it.
For example, if I start to type “Seargent” as “Sa” and then delete the ”a” and type ”e” the autosuggest offers me “Saeargent”.

When I start to type misspell, the autosuggest gives ”misspelll as one of the choices but when chose it I only get the letters I have typed, in this case “missp”.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

You can turn predictive text off.

You could download the Swift Keyboard. You get loads of different options I use one with bigger keys here is a screen shot.

I do not have autocorrect of any form.

What I have, and I do not know the name or where it originates from, is a system which underlines(in red) perceived spelling and syntax errors. It must be American because it does not like ..ise , preferring ...ize, but I can ignore those. It is however useful on syntax, e.g. if I forget a space thus creating a conjoined word. The syntax function can spot other errors.

The useful point is that it does not correct anything - just flags it up for my decision to correct or not. If no correction necessary I can just press send and it does it as typed.

Anyone know the name of the function?

I have an issue when adding smilies. Whenever I add one, it puts them after my cursor. So, if I want to carry on typing, I have to do a few spaces, then pick up the smilie and move it backwards, into one of those spaces. Now my cursor is after the smilie and I can carry on typing. Is this another bug in the software or is there something I can do to remedy it at my end, please? :)

A relatively recent issue is adding a link always places it right at the beginning of a reply. Then have to cut and paste the text to get it where I want it. 😡 Doesn't do it on other forums and didn't do it until a few months ago.

The link puts its self where you have placed the cursor.

[Broken Link Removed]Definitely not true. Start typing. Put in a space or not, add a link, and it puts it before the first typed character. Example

That's what mine used to do. I will try on the Windows laptop later to see if it's just the phone (Android).

I think it may be due to the device rather than the site 🤔 I use Apple tablet and phone.👍

Same problems on the MacBook Air .

turning off predictive text on the 'keyboard settings' works

it still underlines spelling and syntax errors

It does that for me as well so you’re not alone. 👍

It does not do it on PHP or Invision Forums. I have just tested it!

https://www.blue-room.org.ukJust trying on Windows 10 Firefox. Inserting URL

And as soon as you click the 'insert button it moves it the beginning.

I have two other browsers but see np point in testing further. It does it under Chrome, Firefox and Opera under Windows 10 and Chrome on Android. Almost certainly something in settings? I'll wait for Jim to reply.

https://www.blue-room.org.ukNow trying it on Windows 10 / Opera. About to add a url

It does exactly the same. So it's not the device, or the browser. Possibly something in my forum settings.
