DATA KIOSKS ARE COMING

Channel Tunnel operator Getlink says it is on track for the start of the EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) this autumn having put up a new drive-through ‘pre-registration building’ on the French side. The building is now being fitted with dozens of ‘data kiosks’ which will collect passport data, fingerprints and facial images. The port of Calais is also installing similar equipment which should be ready by November.

That is the Chunnel, but what about the ferry terminal?

I have heard that there are some facilities being developed at Western Docks, but maybe just for coaches, which will presumably then have to drive along the seafront to Eastern Docks.

It is still unclear what provisions if any are being made for straight-through transit for EU Citizens and Residents, who do not need to be processed for EES nor ETIAS at neither the Tunnel nor the Ferries.

All the gear, and no idea!
Better hope it all works smoothly in the end or they will cut down on trains per hour🤷‍♂️🙄

Eurostar has had to shorten their trains from 600 odd passengers to 400odd due to the expected delays at the borders relating to the new system🤷‍♂️🙄
