A83 Rest and Be Thankful – 09:30 – Sunday 4/08/24 In response to the wet weather forecast, BEAR Scotland will be diverting traffic at the Rest and Be Thankful onto the Old Military Road from 6pm this evening (Sunday 4 August) as a precaution. A decision will be made about returning traffic to the A83 trunk road on the morning of Tuesday 6 August.
Traffic will operate under a convoy system and road users should expect delays of around 20 minutes.
Tremendously heavy rain here in Skye overnight and all through the morning. There were waterfalls where I've rarely seen waterfalls before, the Slig arches were almost full, Eas a' Bhradain was seriously spectacular. Mega stretches of standing water and I could see roadside gulleys being eroded, tarmac pebbles churning around. Good call I'd think to close R&BT as a precaution.
