The motorhome depot

Do tell.

Ian
We just brought a Burstner 747-2 but it has a few things wrong with it that was not apparent at point of sale, trying to get a reply from the franchisee is awful and the umbrella company the motorhome depot are not interested in the faults.

Hmmm yes, I believe they only act as a 3rd party intermediary, and odnt take any liability.

On this forum here though (one of the largest) the reviews when asked tend to be pretty good on the whole.

Search motorhome depot in the search bar see if you find anything useful.
Also you may find if you post your problems here, the members are very helpful & knowledgable, and may be able to solve them easier than you think

Only got good feelings towards motorhome depot,
They only advertise and deal with selling, nothing else !
They act on behalf of the seller, end of.

I have emailed the franchisee and phoned him but he is not interested, it’s just bad customer service.

They’re not a dealer so you are not afforded the protections that dealers are obliged to adhere to.

You have, effectively, simply bought a vehicle from a member of the public albeit via a broker.

Not what you will want to hear but I’m afraid that Caveat Emptor applies in your case; the responsibility for ensuring that the vehicle was suitable for you lay with you. Unless they lied in direct response to any questions that you asked then you have no comeback on them.

What are the issues that you’ve had with the vehicle? They may be readily resolvable.

Not at all, they are con artists, end of.
I suggest you are careful that you do not use this forum to libel anyone! There is enough evidence to show that most peoples experience of Motorhome Depot has been positive. Perfectly fair to list the problems you have found with your purchase, and to say that the company have informed you that they act only as agent. To write that they are effectively trading using illegal practices is not. It's certainly not within forum rules. That said, I have never dealt with the company, but have read plenty of their literature at various Motorhome Shows, where they always make clear that they are simply a marketing tool available to buyers.

Many here have already asked for further information of the poblems such that Funsters are able to offer potential solutions.

but the service from them is none existent

I think the only service they provide is introducing you to the seller. They make it pretty clear that it's a private sale.

If the motorhome isn’t as described, you have the right to ask the seller for a refund. If the seller refuses, you may be able to take them to the small claims court to get a refund. But it’s not guaranteed that you’ll win, especially with an old motorhome. For example, one good pothole can flex a roof enough for a skylight to leak, who is to say you didn't hit that pot hole on your way home. Which is why with private sales, it's very much buyer beware, and you should crawl over every inch twice before you part with your cash.

You bought the van because you liked it, tell us what is wrong and we'll do our best to help. (y)

It's a little like buying from a car auction, the auction doesn't actually own the vehicle any warranty is with the seller not the car auction they are just a tool to sell the item Ebay is the same any problems is with the seller Ebay just try to sort any problems out, their job is to take any fees LOL 😆 .

A leaking skylight is a relatively easy fix, it’s the damage it may have caused that will be the problem depending on how long it’s been leaking.

If your pretty good with some tools you could fix it for not too much money… ask the seller if they will contribute to the cost of repairs….

Dealt with them several times both buying and selling and would highly recommend them. They are the equivalent of an estate agent in that they market your Motorhome on your behalf and offer no guarantees as to condition.
I believe you would be hard pressed to find a 21 year old without a few issues no matter where you purchased it from and any warranty’s offered would be full of T& Cs it would not be worth the paper it is written on.
