Three good reasons Free,Free and Free. This, to us is the stuff nightmares are made of, I honestly can't fathom why anyone would own a moho, then spend months or even weeks at a place like this..
The abundance of Motorhomes from throughout the EU and afar will continue to grow and head for the Costas the Campsites cannot cope and many resist short stay bookings which doesn’t fit the idea of Motorhome touring, eventually they will have to react to the shear numbers and add greatly to the number of Camperstops, this will be the only way to stop so called wild camping in built up areas. This is echoed in other areas, such as the car park at La Zenia Boulevard near Torrevieja - we were at Leroy Merlin and I counted over 50 units with x4 types of street food cafes set up to service the lot and wider public.....
In addition, Tanya tells me (with her Spanish Estate agent head on) that the 18km of tram network at 2 euros a pop provides great infrastructure to go sight seeing...
Horse for courses and these places will continue to flourish until a tippong point of tolerance, but until then .....
There’s a big difference between a couple of nights for sightseeing and staying for weeks or months. Pre Covid we stayed at the Ikea just outside Reims. There’s a free shuttle bus from the City to IKEA and return. Stayed overnight and we were the only ones there. On another thread there are dire warnings in Spain of having your step out or a window open and measuring your cab mirrors. Whereas you seem to be able to do the full camping experience on the Ikea car park. I’ve yet to see a manufacturers glossy brochure with an IKEA or whatever carpark as an aspirational stopping place. Oh and we had meatballs.Horses for courses. We would happily stay for a couple of nights so we can use the tram to explore the City. Makes it simple.

Sounds like us and we are in our 70's.18-30, walking the countryside, partying in Benidorm is a yuk
I'm sure the UK could consider such plans...however do people from Northern European Countries come to Spain for what we see in the Video....has the Sun, Sea and Sangria bubble disappeared only to be replaced with life on the Tarmac...I think we should do more of that in UK, there are plenty of underused carparks, especially at nights. I do think they need a time limit though.
I think thats why they need a time limit or even better a pay and display or P+R. Weeks is ridiculous IMOI'm sure the UK could consider such plans...however do people from Northern European Countries come to Spain for what we see in the Video....has the Sun, Sea and Sangria bubble disappeared only to be replaced with life on the Tarmac...
Escaping the cold and soaring energy costs may contribute I imagine...So Sad to consider staying there for weeks on end...however while the are all there, it leaves the beautiful Spanish countryside uncluttered...
Wonderful system. 1,40€ for any distance but I think the ticket has a 'use by' of one hour then you need another. every 8 minutes one end it starts at the Nueva Condiminia then over to Thader centre & then loads of stops all the way to city centre then out westwards to the UCaM site.(University)now if I'd known about the tram we would have happily stopped for a couple or nights.
I'm sure it is 48 hours at the Murcia one? No just looked & it is 72hours,I think thats why they need a time limit
We've overnighted there many times. Handy for the lovely city of MurciaThe video is a bit misleading. None of that which is shown is IKEA parking. when viewed from the drone footage all the lower part is the motorhome parking area. .about 80>100 units it holds. IKEA Is too the right over the road & to the right of the motorhome travelling away from you.
It is ideal for access to both shopping malls. The Thader centre which it is next to, & the Nueva Condiminia over the other side of the A7 either in walking distance or use the tram. The tram stop is about 500m away & you can travel all over for a 1,40€ ticket.
Very handy indeed...but would you really want to spend the whole winter there, well some are. We've overnighted there many times. Handy for the lovely city of Murcia
It suprises me too that this can be allowed in a Spanish major city....I suppose an easy option would be to erect height barriers on the area designated for cars only...a physical deterrent is the only way, because motorhomers from Northern Europe are not blessed with the ability to read, even if it's written in their own language or pictorial symbols...We were there on Monday night and frankly shocked to see the other non-official carpark so full as well as the "approved" one. This has always been a convenient staging point on our way to our Spanish house, but I feel that soon, the powers that be will be closing possibly both sites down due to over use. The locals, businesses especially do benefit, but also when the Ikea car park is full, the problem with parking in the overspill carpark may lead to issues. We have never seen this parking so full, and will now look elsewhere in the future. Shame really, as a good stop ruined.
Maybe a more subtle approach is required? It suprises me too that this can be allowed in a Spanish major city....I suppose an easy option would be to erect height barriers on the area designated for cars only...a physical deterrent is the only way, because motorhomers from Northern Europe are not blessed with the ability to read, even if it's written in their own language or pictorial symbols...
