Tesco Credit card can now be used with Google pay by phone

I have a Tesco card that I'm using to collect points for the tunnel, until now it could not be used to pay by phone. I got an email advising that it now can, so I hope I can get a few more points now.

I got that email too but I don't use my phone to pay for anything!

I've watched people do it so when I had the text from Tesco I thought I'd have a go at setting it up on my phone, very simple let's see if it works when I go out tomorrow - will report back!

I tried to use it today and it failed, maybe because it's the first time for that card I should unlock the phone. I'll try again tomorrow

I have contacted the helpline twice, deleted and reloaded the card twice and today, finally I got it to work. So if like me your Tesco card didn't work with Google wallet try deleting it and reloading it.
