Tesco Clubcard - extension of voucher expiry date

Don’t for get if you have a Tesco credit which is also a Clubcard you can use Tesco credit card the same as you would sue any credit card. Tesco credit cards are excepted in all the major retailers including our favourite Aldi and Lidl etc etc

Not sure but think OH TinaL swaps out the tunnel vouchers near use by date & puts them in the Tesco Xmas club savings account, then switches them back out into vouchers. We only have about 50/60 quid's worth at present, as we dont use or like Tesco's that much, (Their Irish Beef especially, tough as an old boot) but at least we dont lose out by letting the vouchers meet their expiry date.
I once asked on another forum how a few regulars could amass so many Tesco Vouchers to enable them to use the Chunnel 4 times a year, answer was revealing, they had Tesco everything, weekly food shop, Credit Cards, Bank accounts, insurances ,mobile phones, even their mortgage, plus they used Tesco Direct for everything they bought for the house.
Collecting points is one thing, but at what cost?

Thing is, providing you aren't buying stuff you wouldn't ordinarily buy, then there's no drama.
Our Local Authority allow us to pay the Council Tax using a Tesco Card, That's £2000 for starters. I appreciate that whereas, once upon a time, one could get 1p a point (and isn't it now 1/4p a point?) it all adds up.
We use cash very sparingly these days. Nearly everything out of our meagre pension is bought on a card.

That's the first I've heard that they will change vouchers once they have been exchanged into deal vouchers (ie Euro Tunnel). Can you check exactly what she does please. I have partnered with someone else for the Frequent Traveller account but this may be useful for others to know about.

Yes, you need to check whether you are losing the benefit of 3 x value by overpay in the first place for stuff in order to collect the points.

Slightly off the main topic, but at 11:30pm on Saturday 31st Jan, we saw a trailer for “The Dig” and Hil (my wife) commented that she would like to watch it. I was reading a book on my iPad Kindle app at the time so Googled it and saw it was on Sky and therefore Now TV. I recalled that Tesco points can be used for Now TV so looked it up as we had £54 worth of points to be used by the end of Feb. The time was 11:40pm. I opened the Tesco app and saw that Now TV and Tesco were parting company at 11:59pm that night!
After reading the reviews and understanding how the process works it was 11:45pm. We opened a Now TV account, agreeing a trial period, and “bought” the vouchers at 11:52pm. The email from Tesco arrived a few minutes later and by 11:56pm we had £150 credit in our account.
Now we just have to avoid divorce whilst agreeing on what to use them for - films, entertainment, F1, tennis or football.
I have to thank the OP for lodging the subject in my head.

Hi Mel Minxy Girl
Point 1:
Sorry, should have been clearer, but being Moho'ers Tesco club points to us means Chunnel vouchers, so they are just unconverted Tesco points on TinaL's account that "Could" be exchanged in Chunnel Vouchers at 3 to 1.

She logs onto her Tesco clubcard account checks the value/expiry or spend by date on her account and if its not likely we will use/exchange them for the Chunnel before they expire, she converts them into The Tesco Xmas Saving club.
She was advised to do this a couple of years ago by Tesco adviser to preserve her points balance that had been accumulated via normal shopping.
After Xmas she then converts them from Xmas savings back into standard Tesco points and has another 9/10 months before, if we haven't spent them, to stick back into the Xmas club to preserve them.
We did learn this the hard way, as at one time we had two cards one each in our individual surnames, we didn't spend the points inside the use by date, and lost out.

Point 2:
Exactly as you mention, one can get carried away signing up to everything Tesco, probably find better/cheaper products on the open market, especially insurances, mortgages if they still offer them, they are just rebranded after all.

Thanks for clarifying, I'm intrigued though ... the Christmas savings club vouchers are usually produced in November however once they had been done I didn't know you could convert them back into points, I assume you don't lose any 'value' by doing this?

That's correct Mel, we convert in November, then convert back after xmas to preserve original points & value.
We wouldn't have known this either, if the Tesco Clubpoint adviser hadn't told us.;)
I think we have preserved some of our original points for over 3 years now:giggle:(y)

Did you know, that Green Shield stamps became Argos. Every day an education. :gum:

I just bought a senior railcard with some Tesco vouchers. Whilst on the phone a very nice Scottish lady extended all my vouchers until at least 2022. One day hopefully I will use them for the Chunnel Xing.
