Benimar Mileo 202
Exp
I’m a newbie
Hi there
We are newbies, we have a new benimar Mileo 202. The television isn’t working!!

We got a reception at home, we’re on our first trip away in Ingleton. We cannot get any channels and have done autoscan. Lots of vans with their televisions on last night. Do we need to purchase a satellite dish?

Thanks in advance

Vicky

We have a 202 with the mushroom dome aerial ....works very well ...did have a reception issue recently and changed the coaxial lead from outlet to the tv and this improved number of channels found...is there power to the amplifier in the wardrobe..ours has a green light.

Hi thanks for your reply, there is no green light to show there is power it’s just a white box, it just seems odd that we had channels athome and now not one! We’ll keep having a go! We’ll keep in mind that the coaxial lead may need changing.

You possibly have a signal amplifier. Is it powered on?
Have you aligned the TV aerial to the transmitter? Check other van on how theirs are aligned.

No we’ve not aligned it, we’re not sure how to do this, we have a teleco mushroom type Ariel, It’s our first night away so we’re feeling very thick at everything!

We have a Benimar and the original Ariel is not a lot of use ,probably have very good signal at home but around ingleton and that area is very poor so the standard Ariel won’t get a signal. We don’t use the Benimar Ariel anymore but got a satellite system fitted problem solved . Many of the caravan sites have their own booster that you can plug into with a external lead .

Many thanks for this, we were wondering if the Ariel wasn’t sufficient as we’re looking around the site and everyone has a satellite!! We’ll have a look into this when we get back

Have you accurately pointed the aerial at the nearest transmitter mast then returned the TV ?

NO...thought not, an easy newcomer mistake.
Look at any house aerials to get the direction and adjust the aerial to point the same way.
Turn the aerial so the blades copy the house ones....horizontal or vertical.
Retune the TV.

Apologies if you already know this.

Edit.....
Just read your last post.
Flying saucer type aerials are nothing more than a waste of plastic, you need a proper directional aerial like at home.
Retuning still applies though.
Every area uses different frequencies which you need to tune in to.

We can’t turn the Ariel as it’s a fixed mushroom one! Not sure what else we could do other than listen to the radio!

Sat dish is much more reliable once you get used to VERY ACCURATELY pointing at the satellite......and I mean VERY ACCURATELY.
just a couple of degrees up/down/left or right and you don't get a signal.
Good thing is you don't need to retune every time you change location.
Of course, there are self seeking automatic systems which you just turn on and they do it all for you.....but they can cost £ 000s

Cancel that dodgy 12v plug inside cabinet that powers the musheroom airial...and yes there is a green light on a unit in the benimar201 so assume same in 202

Another option we find useful (our built-in TV aerial is not the best) is to use an Avtex STH1000 aerial - got a lot of use recently when the satellite was playing up, generally picked up far more stations than the built-in aerial and at £37-odd less of an investment than a satellite dish.
