Ah yes pulling the internal and outside door handles simultaneously resulted in the wire popping out of the mechanism. This was reattached and on refitting the door card I managed to cross thread one of the screws/bolts (?) holding it on.
The remains were successfully removed after it sheered however I would now like to run a tap through it to try and save the thread. How do I find the correct one?
TIA

Take one of the other screws, measure the outside diameter carefully (remembering that it will be slightly less than its notional size) and also measure the thread pitch in both inches and metric. Then look up the likely candidate in thread tables on the internet or ask on here for someone with them. They tend to use very standard sizes.

Undo one of the others, take it to Screwfix (other places are available) and say, "have you got any of these mate"? 😄
