Help!!!!

We are currently in Eguisheim Alsace and looking at traveling into Switzerland to stay at Camping Hobby 3 in Interlaken for a week and then possibly continuing to Slovenia.

After reading through the forums and trolling the internet it is all very confusing.

We have an 2012 Autotrail Tracker FB which is registered as 3650kg.

What do I need to gain access? Looking at crossing near Basel.

Many thanks
Steve

Crossing at Basel, border control will send you towards the pay lane, over 3500 you can buy a one year pass, we travelled in May.
The pass last for all of 2017, cost I think is 40 euros or if you have Swiss francs 40 SF which works out cheaper, enjoy.

Sorry to confuse but that's for 3500 or under.
Last year we travelled with a F B tracker 3650.
Same procedure but we bought a 10 day pass.
You fill in the form provided every day you are in Switzerland even if stopped at campsite.
Think the actual price you will find on line at the Swiss tourist site, think it was about 35 euros or Swiss francs, any way all very easy.

You can buy 10 x 1 day passes for about 25 Euro (minimum purchase 10)

Or a 1 month pass for about 52 Euro

They need to see your V5 doc to get the weight

If you are only staying a week and then later coming back through Switzerland you can use the 10 day pass for both legs of your journey as you just check off the days you use but this includes days on sites.

Hope you meant trawling :D2.
bloody auto correct it tried to change half a dozen words and this one slipped through the 'net'

Thanks for all your help on this subject.
Going across tomorrow.

Cheers
Steve

We were at Interlaken last month and found it extremely touristy. Not sure there's enough to keep you there for a week, I'd have a Plan B.

We went into Switzerland earlier this year and they just said camping car...40CHF. Got green vignette with 17 on it and they weren't concerned about weight and neither were the Swiss Police when stopped a day later. Just wanted V5 and driving licence.

As I said it seems to be a mine field.
We just see what happens tomorrow.

Thanks for all the info

Just get to the border and they'll exchange a green vignette for 40CHF. We had no idea we were going into Switzerland and we did ok. No minefield

It'll go something like this:

1) queue up with cars
2) smile at nice Suisse border geezer
3) be ready to be greeted with a "Grüezi"
4) he'll wave you over to the geezer wearing the waist cash belt
5) CHF40 later and you'll have a shiny new 2017 vignette
6) you'll wonder where on your screen you need to put it

I wouldn't even mention the weight being over 3500kgs.

PS: it will likely be busy coming in this WE so expect a queue.

It's got clear precise instructions on the back (like hell it has). It's on (our) nearside or centre top. Where our tax disc used to be. If you've got LHD then in front of you. Clearer? Ha ha.

Green vignettes are only for less than 3500kg. There will be a big fine if you are caught using it.

Tell them you are over 3500kg and they will sell you a pass that lasts for a year and you can use for any 10 days in that year. Costs about 32 francs. You just have to fill it in each day you intend to use it.
