You probably can but you will most probably get ripped off.I thought i could buy online before we left
I think Via is for PSVA and not a regular vignette, not 100% sure though.
Well spotted! I did not see his before. Looks like there are many better options available. If you get one from the Swiss travel pass site they charge you £33 for the pass £8 admin and £20 for the delivery. Proper rip off.
Basel is in SwitzerlandHaving done a little research as going this way later in the year. Almost all Post Offices and Fuel Stations in and around Basel sell Vignettes. Also, the customs posts themselves sell them and the ticket touts on the road trying to make a few Euros. I remember the first time we went through Basel, only 5 years ago we ordered our's from the Swiss travel centre at face value and a very small postal costs. Now to my great surprise and only after it was pointed out in a previous post on this thread surcharges are showing on secondary web pages of €20.00 for the transaction fee and a further €8.00 for registered post. I will buy mine at Shell garage in Basel where we will brim before crossing over.
Correct! The shell station I was referring to is in Binzen, a few K's over the boarder. I understand you can drive into Basel to purchase a Vignette without going through any customs checks. These are on the main routes crossing the Rhine.Basel is in Switzerland
My Autotrail Excel as new is 3.3 T. I've uprated it to 3.5T.Buy at the border. If you are going via Basle the customs people are very helpful and will direct you to the booths you have to pay at.
But what is your Maximum weight? The vignette can only be used on vehicles up to 3500kg.
Phil, my post was in answer to the OP. I know your motorhome is 3.5t so you use the vignetteMy Autotrail Excel as new is 3.3 T. I've uprated it to 3.5T.
Have a look on Google or Michellin maps once you have your destination then make a decision. So you only need a vignette if you use the motorways, is it easy to get around avoiding them, we are only a 3500kg PVC , and German friends have offered us the use of their chalet, we will have get the location, all we know is it's one road in and out. ?
