Hi All

As part of our trip this summer are stopping for a few nights at Jungfrau Camping Site near Interlaken. I believe there is train near by you can take up the mountain which sounds very much like something we fancy doing.
Has anybody got any experience of this, if so is it something we need to book in advance ?
Any advice would be more than welcome

Cheers

We bought one of the many passes available from the local tourist office ( or it may have been the station in Interlaken) when we were there last. This gave us 5 days free travel and 5 days at 50% off but did not include the last leg to the Jungraujoch from Kleine Schidegg. Info available here for your trip, not cheap but well worth the experience, just beware of the Japanese tourists queue jumping! 😀

A long while since we did it. We got the cheapest train which was about 7am, just us and some workers on the first leg. There was also a camera or similar at the station which showed the weather at the top. Couldn’t see a thing when we went up there. It’s gets busy with lots and lots of Japanese tourists who dashed about everywhere then they all fell asleep on the trains going down.

It’s great fun to do and something you won’t forget, mainly because it will be the most expensive train ticket you’re ever likely to purchase (but it‘s worth it).

Do yourself a favour: take the first train up to Kleine Scheidegg, then take the Jungfrau (young virgin) train up the Eiger (eagle) but on the way back down stop off at Kleine Scheidegg and then walk over to Männlichen (takes about 1.5hrs and is 5km) then from there you can take the ski lift (gondola) back down to the same place you left from. Much more fun and allows you to take in the scenery much more. On the train you don’t see too much but on foot you’ll enjoy it far more. You can also from Männlichen see down to Wengen from the scary overhang platform 🫣

As others have said plan to take first train. Then you should t need to book in advance and can check weather at top first. We had poor weather at the other end of the Lautebrunnen valley (the Bond film peak) and just took lift up one station. No point in paying a fortune to see nothing.
We didn’t go on the Jungfrau train as low cloud persisted next couple of days.

Not with me😁😁went skiing in Austria years ago waiting for the ski lift and I looked down to see the front of a pair of skis trying to slide past😳😳
Quick sidestep onto the curled up front of them and a German screaming behind and they had slid back again😂😂

When you gonna be there?
I’m no squealer 😁😁

Ok but only for you the 15-18th just looking for a stop over tomorrow from Lake Titisee.
Messaged a site in Grindewald to see if I can get in there for 1 night if not may ring Jungfrau and see if I can arrive a day earlier.
Just payed for the Swiss road charge so surprisingly I’m nearly legal for a change😂😂
