Hi all, on the 20th of October our sunroof on our 2021 kontiki 625 decided to depart company with us on the motorway in southern Spain, it was closed and locked and came away from the front at about 80kmph , it ended up in a field missing the German motorcyclist by inches (thank god) but leaving the locks in place, one of many questions I have is, …. Has anyone had a similar experience with their kontiki sunroof, as soon as we were able we exited the motorway and I took photos and called my European assistance , which is a whole new story, we have made it back now after 3 weeks of temporary repairs involving lots of gaffer tape and stress but would like to know if anyone has had a similar experience , incidentally it was a motorised roof which you cannot lock unless it is down properly

Im sorry you had to go through that, talk about a trauma for you. Any chance we can see the pictures.

Adding to this I have to say how amazing all the fellow motorhomers were with their help and advice, going shopping for parts for us and general support and the language barrier never got in the way in times of trouble, just inspirational

Goodness me, that really is a first for me and I expect a lot of others too.

Think you should be congratulated on soldiering on and making some battle damage repairs to the van and really hope it’s sorted asap for you 🤞🏻

It happen to me three years back in New Zealand with a rollerstream,
likewise it was fully locked down but had a squall come of a lake near mount Cook,

Its basically not fit for purpose, plastic toggles to hold it in place and the normal airflow will treat it as an aero foil with tremendous lift, ( even at normal cruising speeds)
i used gaffer tape and tie wraps for the rest of the holiday, Rollerstream said they had no similar cases
and suspected that I hadn’t locked it down properly,
I know dam well it was!

Swift aren't the only one there have been lots of problems with in most makes. I think Hobby were the first to have the problem. Probably because they were the first to fit also their ones were fixed didn't open.

If I was buying a coachbuilt it's one option I wouldn't have.

Yes this is what I think they will say to me , that’s why I took the photos immediately of the locks in place , it is physically impossible to put the locks on if the roof is not down properly

Soldering on wasn’t by choice to be fair, the European assistance I paid for before the trip turned out to be a spectacular fail also, however this will be a post for another day as the RAC now has a case open into their epic failure, 3 weeks of promises that never happened , I can say no more at the moment
