Good Afternoon Funsters,
For our first trip of the year in our Swift Escape 674 we went up to a lovely camp site near Skipton -had a great time, lovely small farm campsite -great weather and we had a fab time. Apart from one issue. I had drained down the van for the winter and dutifully filled it back up and went through the process of closing the taps and refilling the boiler etc. However I noticed a fast and persistent drip just under where the fresh water outlet tap is halfway down the van -seemed to be coming from the sill rather than the tap itself and it was a fast drip -not quite a dribble, so a dripple. Anyway -by that evening the tank was showing half full and by 2am the warning alarm sounded for low water level -lovely! So as we only bought the van last summer I left it in for an annual hab check and an investigation of the mystery drip. The hab check (our first one for this van) came back fine, everything tickety-boo -and they could find no drip. Nothing. They filled the tank, kept it for 3 hours, dry as a bone? So I thought, I know the very people who may know something about mystery drips in MHs... hence this appeal for the wise counsel of the Funster community. The only difference I can think of between the campsite and the MH workshop is that we were parked on a slight downhill incline while it was perfectly level in the garage. Is that a factor in terms of pressure of water at a particular point near the fresh water outlet? Obviously I am going to refill it myself and if the problem comes back I will take a video and send it to the garage so they can see it happening. Anyway -thought I would ask on the off-chance that it has happened to someone else and thanks in advance for any ideas. Happy Sunday all!

When in the garage, did they just fill the tank, or did they use all the taps and drains, fill the sink etc. There must be a leak somewhere and I doubt it was just because you parked on a slope.
We had a john guest joint come apart behind the washroom. The water came out by the sill. Luckily we were able to replace the pipes through the fridge vents.

Thanks for response -not sure what they did while they were doing the hab check other than fill the tank and look for evidence of it dripping. I had it drained down before I let it in so I 'assume' (if that is reasonable?) that they will have gone though process of refilling the boiler closing taps etc when they filled the fresh water tank up.... Think you are right about the leak but seems weird that they found no evidence when it seemed very evident when I filled it. Further investigation needed before next trip I think. Thanks for responding (y)

Our fresh water drain is a simple bung in the bottom of the tank. A few years ago the pipe got damaged when we ran over a ladder the truck in front of us dropped and it's been a constant source of annoyance ever since, despite it being "repaired". I did stop it once by putting in a new bung and I've also used a hardening putty around the pipe. What it really needs is the tank to come off and get a plastic weld done but my habitation guys are somewhat reluctant...........

I'm just making a suggestion using my experience - try checking around the water outlet.

Thanks for this TerryL ...v useful to hear your experience and I guess it is the sort of thing that will differ from van to van depending on the exact point of weakness that emerges. I definitely think there is a fault in ours even though I can't work out why it wasn't obvious at the garage-Bad luck with the ladder! I will do further investigations over coming weeks and before I go on any long trips. 👍

Thanks GeoffnDee -would be a bonus if that's all it is but might explain the lack of leak second time around?....will test it in a couple of weeks when we have the van out again. ...Thanks for taking the time to respond 🙏
