Evening All!

Can any of you Funsters identify my garage door locks? No make on them and trawled the net without success.

I need two soon as we’re off to Scotland in a couple of weeks and mine are damaged by Swift at build or Brownhills attempting to repair - leave it there for the moment but neither helping, got nowhere after several weeks of emails and phone calls.

Let me know if you want me to put a warranty claim in!

Hi Andy,

Tips broken off both bolts as photo.

The van was sitting on my drive for 3 months after collecting it in December from Brownhills as we’d just moved and other circumstances. First trip was to them for snags and reported to them that the door had sprung open en route. They claimed to have fixed the problem and it was only when I got back home I saw this damage. So either it left Swift like that or Brownhills!

Swift won’t give me the part numbers and Brownhills gone to radio silence. So I figure buy new ones and send them the busted locks under warranty. I would pop back to Brownhills but that’s a 300 mile round trip!

Hi again!

Got the locks from O’Leary, brilliant next day service. Exchanged some internals with my locks and they fit perfectly. Closed the door, …..but can’t open it with external handle as the bolts are fractionally too long. Probably how the original bolts got “modified” as photo, probably on a Friday afternoon at Swift! Got the door open by crawling through the garage and pulling on the “tees” as photo.

Cannot see any obvious means to adjust the door or lock position, any Funsters out there had experience of this? Would seem only a few mm adjustment needed… any ideas appreciated!

You're a bit stuffed matey, either the catch has to move further away from where it latches or you cut down the catch itself. They have been fitted incorrectly at the factory it would seem.

Thanks Dane, after a couple of hours I painstakingly emery’s off about 2mm off the top bolt and less off the bottom and they now work fine. I reckon the fitter at Swift snapped a chunk off each to get the door opening but took off too much. As you say the door was incorrectly fitted in the first place. So I similarly bodged but have been able to check from the inside that the bolts fully engage in their keeps so no concerns.

Fab kous example of customer care from both manufacturer and dealer😀
