Can anyone please help? On my 2006 Van I'm not getting any power from my leisure battery when we're parked up. If I select the leisure battery and switch on my water pump for example, the green light comes on but as soon as I draw any power from the battery the indicator light dims then goes out. Vehicle battery works good and supplies all 12V items and the Leisure battery seems to be charging OK. On hookup the 12V is fine as well. Many thanks. john.

You leisure battery has died completely.
Replacement is the only option.
Now you need to find the reason for it not getting a charge.

It could be as PJ says above, but I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. Turned up at an aire, turned a tap on and the needle for the leisure battery dropped to nothing.
This was with 2 new leisure batteries that I know were being charged properly
I checked all connections and fuses and it all came back on. I can only assume there was a bad connection somewhere, probably with the 20a fuse on the feed from the battery
There is also a changeover relay that I thought might be at fault, so changed that when we got home as it sometimes buzzed.
First thing I would do is check for something simple as I did.

Hi on your Swift it should have the option to switch from charging engine battery to LBatt ,,,,small light on panel shows front or back;) I fear that PPJ is correct though and your L batt has died :( I cannot imagine that a battery that cannot light a small indicator light will ever recover;)

Thanks folks much appreciated. Indicator on the Leisure Battery is Green but I'll put something across it directly to see if it can deliver power. I've swapped/changed both the relays in the split charge circuit as I thought that could be the problem but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. I suspect it's a bad earth with the problem being a connector just after the fuse at the actual Battery but it's not easy to get at - I'll investigate further at the week-end - in the meantime if there's anyone else who's had the same problem and found a solution I'd be grateful of their advice....Thanks again for the info so far. It's been very helpful...

The first check before acting on any suggestions or performing any further tests must be to check the actual voltage directly across the leisure battery terminals with a meter whilst a load is connected - lihhts ideally. If it reads the same as the van meter your battery is duff or not being charged. If the battery voltage holds up you have a poor connection.

Also note that scale and residue can interfere with a good connection. My leisure battery wasn't charging for this reason and all the connections were crusted up and needed a good clean.

Thanks all...Leisure battery back working. I've either had an intermittent problem which has resolved itself for the minute .... or by taking the battery out and cleaning the connectors in the small plug which connects the feed and return to the battery I've made it good :) Great support and advice from our group certainly put me in the right direction. Thanks again and happy traveling to all :)
