Hello, I thought I would start a bit of a thread for my new project, this is the second van I have converted, the first being a simple vivaro weekend van.
It's a 2015 van with 112k miles, in very good condition.
We wanted a bit more space with a permanent bed, so here goes, it's still early days but here we are so far. . . .
Had the side windows fitted and made a start on the bed etc.

got the 240v kit installed, managed to hide the socket behind the back bumper.
Got the lights and pump etc wired in and working Inc routing everything through the side of the van, hot and cold water pipes and wires for the hob ignition, lights etc.
Just waiting on the kitchen unit and overhead locker to come from Scotland, they are being made to measure and will sit behind the front seats.

Looking great mate, you will have such fun in that. Envy you fitting in a transverse bed, all our vans have had to take into account a lengthways set up because of my height.
Cracking job

Cheers! The bed is 6ft 3in long, had to sacrifice a bit of insulation to get to that so it's only got 7mm foil backed expanded rubber and carpet where the bed ends are, but it worked in our old van.

Nice one, did have a transverse in a Benimar low profile, had to cut ( butcher) the footboard off, and my feet touched the side of the garage door!

I must admit, that looks like it should be comfortable, i had the mattress made by a recycling upholsterer, they take old upholstery and make brand new stuff from it, just won a world eco award for his work, ordered it friday and it was done in 4 days, all for the princely sum of £170.

Strange.... I always thought that the Nissan NV400 is identical to the Renault Master and Vauxall Movano..
Have to rely on old grey matter here but when I had my 2015 Movano converted I am sure the max internal width was 69in (5ft 9in) so we had to go longitudinal singles to give us descent length.

It is indeed the same shell as the movano, but putting the bed at half height opens up more space above the mid brace, anything below that is indeed 5ft 9", but there is 3" either side in a recess above the brace.
The mattress is level with the top of the brace so it gives us 6ft 3" (y)

Well I'm very nearly done, still deciding on the size of solar to put on when spring comes, and bit of wiring for the little 300watt inverter for the tv.
But it's plumbed in and gas connection done, all worked first time!
Need another seat box and maybe a fold out table in the near future.

We just had our first night in the new van, only a local stopover at Holmfirth just to test things out.
Success! It's much roomier than the pics suggest, the bed is unbelievably comfortable, slept fo 10hrs!
It was nice to get up and dress while stood up, get a brew on with a normal height kitchen and the hookup worked perfectly.
despite it being cold and damp outside no heating required during the night, just switched the diesel heater on for 10 mins before getting up.
5 mins to pack up and on our way we went!

Bit of an update, I hated the van on the standard steel wheels, it just looked like a work van when parked up, so I had to get my thinking cap on.
The pcd is 5 x 130, I found porsche cayenne were the same stud pattern, but the biggest headache is the spigot sizeof the vans hubs, they are huge @89.1mm, much bigger than anything else I've seen.
So, our machine shop were entrusted to have a fiddle with them.
Got them centred on the CNC and carefully relieved the centre bore of the wheels just enough to fit over the spigot, hardly any material removed, and fitted first go, new tyres of the correct load rating fitted. Transforms it!

I absolutely love that first pic with the new wheels on, it looks short, boxy and very toy like, I might name it the stormtroopers transporter!
