Sustrans Cycling guides/routes Uk.

Thanks Mousy . I have always found NCN/sustrans too secretive about trails they are involved in and normally look at the local council web sites of places I visit in the motorhome.

requested can only be helpful when in unfamiliar areas

I used a Sustrans route when away last summer. Took me about 1.5 miles around singletrack and muddy paths just to avoid about 300yds on an A road. Whilst some might appreciate that, its not for me.

🤔
What do you mean? What is their secret?
They have a decent website. There you can look for trails by area. There is also an OS plug-in view of the UK that lets you scroll around a map finding routes, etc. = https://explore.osmaps.com/ncn
And, from the OP's post, you can get various areas posted to you (or is it a download link? not checked yet  )

Edit: It is downloadable guides. The clue is the form not getting enough detail of where you are to send us stuff

For sure the Sustrans routes could be better signposted.
Where the route splits to a MTB route from a road bike route they both have the same Sustrans route number :o
And it couldn't be too hard to use some symbols about the bike tyre or terrain.

Like motorhomers planning ahead for height & width restrictions on a route, I would follow a desired Sustrans route before turning up.

A ~2km diversion to avoid 300m of a busy a-road is a bit far. And if it's been raining a day or two before the mud would be a deal breaker :)
Sometimes those quiet byways & bridle-paths take you along lovely routes though. swings & roundabouts - well, not on a bike of course :o
