Surviving the French Hailstones (or not)

Currently at site in Cheverny & we got the full impact of the hailstorm the OP refers to. Golf ball sized hailstones , rooflights smashed, canopy has 30+ holes and wing mirror cracked....and we were the lucky ones. Comfort have agreed we can get all repaired once back in UK. Red Pennant visiting site Thursday to assist those with more travel limiting damage.

I was staying on the shores of one of the Italian lakes some 20 years ago nearly in my t4 conversion looking at the interesting textured finish on a lot of the caravans including the Dutch family next door wondering what spec they had all gone for.... the Dutchman then explained the hail storms generated out on the lake regularly each summer. I watched with trepidation each time a dark cloud formed out above the water. We had some small stuff whilst I was there but no damage. The units all looked like the surface of a golf ball.

Must be coming down with some force to rip through the awning 😮

Not wanting to put a negative spin as this is a bad experience already but can the insurance wriggle out as act of god clause or words of the same ilk , don’t know the answer and I’m sure someone on here has already been through this, hopefully you’ll get it sorted no problem though.

Not sure of the Brit Insur. Companies but I repaired a heap of houses that were damaged by hail in Aus. Actually went to Aus in 1990 when offered 3 months work there, Hail the size of Corncobs that time.
Stayed 10 1/2 YEARS just doing Insurance rectification of one kind or another.

My last 14 months there I was repairing damage from Hail the size of Grapefruit., We were living in the inner south west of Sydney when that storm hit. I was seriously considering ripping up the carpet in the Lounge to cover the recently purchased new van, when I saw the Storm moving East, so suburbs in the East got hit instead, Bondi, Tamarama, Coogee etc etc.
