Has anyone installed Surfshark on Avtex W215TS smart tv ? I have installed the ap on our phones ok but am struggling how to install ap (any aps) on the tv. I've contacted Surfshark who sent a video but I am frustrated and confused (not difficult!) by all the technical jargon. If it helps I have Avtex AMR994X router. Any guidance would be very much appreciated please

From a quick scan of the manuals, I don’t think you can install Surfshark on your TV or your router. You should ask Avtex.

As previous post.

We use a fire stick to get Tv, YouTube etc on our Avtex and Surfshark is installed on that. Not the Tv

Basically saying Firestick or connect to computer with it on using cable to share. So I'd say you can't directly put it on Tv

Yes, you can use Surfshark on an Avtex TV, as long as you have a streaming adapter or use an Ethernet cable:

  • Streaming adapter
If your TV doesn't have app functionality, you can use a streaming adapter, such as a streaming dongle or stick, to install a VPN. For example, if you have an Amazon Fire TV Stick, you can download the Surfshark app from the dongle's app store.

    1. Download and install the VPN app on your computer.

    2. Connect your TV to your computer using an Ethernet cable.

    3. Go to your computer's Network settings, select the VPN connection, and enable sharing.

    4. Make sure your TV is set to use the wired connection.

    5. Launch the VPN app on your computer and connect to a server.

Surfshark is a VPN (Virtual Private Network) that can be used on many devices, including smart TVs, gaming consoles, tablets, and routers. You can use one VPN subscription to secure all of your devices.

Thanks both for your help, I assumed you could add apps to a SmartTV but obviously the Smart TV is not as smart as I was hoping. Surfshark have confirmed their VPN is not compatible with my router so looks like I'm going down the Firestick route. Thanks again.

i would say you should be able to install it directly as the tv seems to have a load of other apps so i would be surprised if a vpn app cannot be installed. See below pic of the tv with the apps pre installed.

Smart TV’s are a complete waste of time IMHO. They go out of date, fail to be supported for more than a few years etc etc

Get a decent monitor, rather than a TV these days and then stream from your preferred source, Apple, Firestick etc which it’s easy to update and fully future proofed, easy to install apps etc etc. ✔️

Don't disagree on this

From Surfshark’s web site - webOS, is an operating system that doesn’t natively support VPN apps. This means that setting up a VPN isn’t as easy as downloading an app and tapping a connect button.

You would have to do a manual install - details on Surfshark’s web site.

Should be easy enough, then but would be easier to go the firestick route for more options

I wouldn’t say easy for your average motorhomer (I have no idea what technical knowledge the op has). You won’t get any support from Surfshark. The best route, as you say, is get a fire stick.

My Old AvtexTV has been replaced with a monitor...all the TV and Radio comes from a 4K Firestick..which supports Surfshark..and add ons like speakers via Bluetooth...all USB powered...
On a side note...anyone used a Firestick as a Radio source or even Spotify..it only needs a power source and voice commands via remote...link this to a quality Bluetooth speaker....or van radio...
