Sometimes the only shop in town is a huge Chinese bazaar. It's quite bizarre!

I heard from a local that it was because of a dubious deal between the Spanish and Chinese governments. Usually there seems to be more staff than customers, you wonder how they can make a profit.Yeap, Chinesse business are getting more and more popular in Spain. I guess it's due the globalization.
Not sure that's a recommendation! (Our tin of baked beans must have done tens of thousands of miles abroad)Mercadonna usually have...good quality fruit & veg and even Heinz baked beans.
Well, if you want proper British products you will need to investigate a little. Our feeding habits are very different to what I've experienced in UK.Not sure that's a recommendation! (Our tin of baked beans must have done tens of thousands of miles abroad)
Good ideaI know it's easy to buy raw beans by the can, but not sure about baked (I don't use them)
Not keen on beans, but very interested in your recommendation. Only 2 and a bit weeks to go, and I CAN try it!!If you like beans, you shouls try fabada. It's original from Asturias (north Spain) but you can have it anywhere you find a "restaurante asturiano" (Asturian restaurant) or "sidreria asturiana" (Ciders Asturian restaurant).

london is full of underground parking theres one opposite hyde park with a cafe in it and its far from new ias its undeneath a 30s nlockOn the theme of parking, has anyone noticed that in Spain, regardless as to the seeming antiquity of the town or village, the Spanish manage to build(dig?) an underground car park, usually under the main or prominent square or plaza.
As @quilkin says, not motorhome friendly but a damn sight better than we manage.
Mind you, I did try a French cassoulet at a lovely French restaurant on a very hot day and it was awful. I think the hot day was the main problem. That and the fois gras. I must try it in the winter next time.LOL
Yes you CAN, but be sure to pop into a proper restaurant where no canned beans are served.

Yes but of all the same thousands of items that they all sell, why don't they stock all the stuff you have to sent off to China for on eBay.Yes ,tax breaks & no business rates for 5 years. With some after 5 years they sell to another chinese & the 5 years starts again.
Here we have 2 huge ones, 8-10,000m2 each & a smaller one in centre of town & they are extremely busy.

Yes, that's winter food, I don't see myself having a fabada at 45 celsius dregees LOLMind you, I did try a French cassoulet at a lovely French restaurant on a very hot day and it was awful. I think the hot day was the main problem. That and the fois gras. I must try it in the winter next time.
Yes, the good one takes ages to get cooked, but nowaday most of the people do this kind of food (pulse?) using pressure cookers.I remember eating cassoulet toulousain while in the neighbouring département of Ariège. It's probably the most filling thing I have ever eaten (and potentially the most calorific). Very tasty indeed, but I don't think I'd choose it on a hot day! The Finns have a saying, 'a meal is as good as a coat'. I reckon that meal was a fleece with a fur coat on top. Apparently it should take you at least seven hours to cook too.
Short anwser: internet.@estresao just out of interest, how did you find Motorhome Fun?
I know a former-ish goverment (I doubt here there actual different parties) made some deal and it could be because of that, who knows. But what's sure is Chineses are investing a lot in getting more and more makerts.
How they do profits, I don't know, but what I seenis that theybsre permanently running their businesses (non stop) and it's not easy see them expending money as any local.
I must admit I do wonder about that, especially when you see the same young chinese bloke entering with a briefcase chained to his wrist & then exit & a little while later the same bloke is at the nextThere all a front for the triad drug, prostitution, and motorhome fraternity!!
lidl is just down the road . we get in with truck conversions so there is enough room. can get busy at times .IvI' been looking at something of the same issue. An accessible supermarket near Santander. I've so far located a Carrefore at Torravelaga.
Found lots of height barriers and weird looking entrances.
Could anybody please recommend a Santander one.
We will be heading for Carbaceno (spelling)
