enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
I watched part of this yesterday, it seems a viable option to consider if stuck for parking overnight or longer than three hours.

Me too watched it, interesting I'd never heard of YourParkingSpace app.
I'm not really into supermarket park ups but could be an option in an emergency ?

I have been doing this for years, assumed it was the norm. I have a number of these apps, great for overnight parking, eg Sainsbury near to the tunnel, and particularly useful for away football matches were I do not want to stay overnight but do want to stay more than 3 hours. Use a combination of Ring Go, Pay by Phone, Just Park, Horizon, Your Parking Space and NCP

I used the app recently to find a parking spot at a man united match, when I took my grandson, but I wasn't aware you could use it for supermarket overnighting.

I doubt I would use it, but on a nice to know basis, it's nice to know lol!

Can someone tell me the hack without having to watch 27 mins of waffle?

you only need to watch the first bit (less than five mins I think it was) where they explain about an app you can download, pay for extra time at your chosen spot but has to be done before you arrive there so you’re inbefore cameras can cop you..
think that was it..

It's 'advertising' the Yourparkingspace app which allows you to purchase parking in loads of private parking spots including a lot of supermarkets that otherwise have time restrictions. It's actually very good. I've used it to park near Birmingham airport and my daughter used it to rent out a space which was allocated to her flat before she had a car.

OK - I was aware of these apps/websites. Have used them for....10 years?!!! Usually use 'park on my drive'. Used one a couple of times to park the school minibus on a school trip to London.

The video suggested some interesting way of getting around supermarket parking. Thanks for saving me 27 minutes!!!

Saw this

It's all explained and info given within the first six minutes of the video, so not too much for you to suffer. :giggle:

Well, given it was nothing new and quite a well known obvious solution I am glad I didn't waste 6!

Used Just Park at Sainsburys yesterday, £5.99 , for the football
Bizarrely yourparkingspace , which I normally use , was £15

Couldn't watch that tripe but had a look at the parking app it wanted £2 to park at Tesco for 2 hours, I can do that for free.
No idea about Tesco but other supermarkets are available.
We can all park for 2 hours for free . This is for longer stays

Darren the urban motorhomer has flagged this on several occasions. I was interested in the Touring With Kids said organise before you park, but Darren does it once he is parked up I thought. Obviously you can normally get a few hours free, but the apps are mainly for overnight. Details are on the car park signs, and on the relevant web sites.

Now that its publicised I can see them putting a ban on motorhomes overnighting pretty quickly

As said, Darren of The Urban Motorhomer, YouTube channel put out a video on the same subject a few months back, and he has half as many again subscribers than the Touring With The Kids channel has, and that has not appeared to put a quick stop to motorhomes overnighting in these carparks.

never heard of it before even though I know people park at a sainsburys local to my daughter long term & even when I went on & tried to find out how they did it ,it never occurred to me that there was an app.

A few of these sites have existed for many years. They initially started for private house owners to rent out their drive. Over the years they have become increasingly commercialised and incorporate office car parks, supermarkets, any private car parks. I recently used one for parking near a concert venues in London and it turned out to be on street parking! (Not sure who owned the street????) You can still rent your own drive out though particularly if you live in a useful area for theatre, concert venue, football stadium etc.

Would you need to check whether the fact that you pay for the time, also allows overnight occupancy? I heard recently about a campervan owner who'd paid for overnight parking at a local car park, but then someone looked at CCTV footage showing them actually being in the van overnight, and was fined, as the signage said no occupancy.

That would be my worry as well.

It's been a while since I've seen so many negative comments on what is an 'option' to park for low cost overnight - you don't have to use the option but it offers an additional choice for some in some locations.

Some people don't like to use Aires, some people don't like to wild camp, some people want fully serviced pitches whilst others just want somewhere to park up for the night, but I hope that others continue to highlight options that might be attractive to someone else.

If you don't want to use an option highlighted by a Funster, then no point being negative, just don't use it if it doesn't suit your modus operandi. We're all grown up enough to make our own choices. I will definitely use supermarket pre paid parking if it suits my needs on a particular occasion.

I saw this video and it was news to me. Can't say I'm likely to use it but saw Eastbourne Asda is in it. £6 to park overnight next to the marina and its restaurants etc seems brilliant. I only live 5mins away so not of personal interest.

Sound like a great option if they don't have any restrictions on overnight occupation.
Though I'm assuming someone will be along to point out that they will if it gets used in that way!

As a one off one nighter (I would only use it if passing through or visiting for a short time) its now on my list !! Thanks 👍

I had a look at the Your Parking Space website and one of the FAQ was "When do I get paid my earnings?". What is that about please?

Another FAQ was about cancelling your subscription. How much does this site cost?

I now realise that the earnings question relates to people selling their own parking space!

Yeah its not bad, I posted a couple of years ago about using it to park at Asda in kenmel bay, £1.80 it was then. The good thing about that one is its right next to the sea,(50 yard walk) and has the kerbed walkways on the car park whcih stops the boy racers.

You can advertise your own driveway on it if my memoty serves
Just make sure you have a good street view for any height restrictions

Could you park on way in, say enough to get you to park couple hours, then in morning say 8am pay again then leave in time ?

Could they fine you '? we got a fine in Morrisons Inverness, and didn't pay it, the letters came for about 8 months we just ignored them.

Never seen that on a sign before . How did they prove he was 'occupying' the van ?

I checked out the app and tried it as an example. Staying overnight in morcambe.
From arriving on a Sunday night at 7pm to leaving Monday morning at 9.30 it was £2. (Asda)On someone's drive it was £5 and at one place it was £41. There were several others as well with prices in between.
Never actually used it yet but worth a try.
