Off to France for our second ever trip this September and decided the wrap around for the awning is too much of a faff. Noticed people using sunblockers on the front only and wondered if anyone can suggest a good one.
I assume they just fit in the groove on the awning front.

I've looked at all the specialist pre-made ones, which are great as they can integrate into the slots on the front of the awning, but they also cost a fair chunk. But as my tie down straps go into the front awning slot the specialist ones can't go there too, and the tie down is usually essential. And the specialists really do want an arm and a leg if you want something for a side. And yet the sun moves during the day so inevitably I find any screen needs to be moveable, or else I'm going to be hemmed in if I have stuff on all sides.

So I'm experimenting with simple cheapo shade cloths with eyelets and bungee cords, off the likes of Amazon. 2x2m 90% shade nets are less than Ā£20.

I was thinking of using some of these to attach a tarp to the awning rail?

That could work - if you remember to put some in the middle of the rail before you fit the tie down straps towards the ends :wondering:

My Fiamma tie downs don't need to be slid in from the ends, you can just point the hook end upwards, slot the tie down in from the front and lower the hook end and they can't fall out, just whack your peg into the ground and attach the strap.

We have three Flexi-Shades sun blocker which are 1.4 metres wide rather than just one long one as we find using either one, two or the three gives us more options.

Iā€™m guessing you may have a Fiamma canopy. If so the Fiamma sun blocker fits easily with no problems for the tie down fitting. You can also roll it up with attached fittings and leave it attached to the rail if you wished, not for driving though šŸ˜œ

Iā€™ve used the Sunblocker on the front of my awning and it works great. It just slides into the groove, super easy to set up. Make sure to get one thatā€™s UV resistant, though. I got mine from Amazon.

This is the one we used and it suits an awning of 4.5 mtrs. It also can be used as a rain blocker as it is waterproof
The make is Dometic

I have the Lilypad ones. You can use tie downs with them. You simply cut out a section of beading and feed the tie downs in as you insert the bead into the channel. This was Lilypad's advice.
I use their tie downs, much stronger than the Fiamma ones.

Thanks for all the great info.

Just ordered a 4m keder strip from e#%$y Ā£ 8.68 and intend to sew on something like mosquito netting or similar and attach with bungies. That's the plan at the moment anyway!

(Should point out Mrs Jimuck is sewing!!)
