Fundamentally, what are the differences between the three types of tyre? I am asking because the cautious in me suggests that I need 4 season for the possibility that I might want to do more wintery motorhoming. Yet, summer tyres seem to offer less rolling resistance and better rain performance.
I know that in some parts of Europe, they insist on winter or 4 season tyres, but what is the difference? Is it wear? Better rubber? More ply? Price? Longevity? Resistance to side wall punctures? Ability to cope with higher 'hot' tyre temps? What are the performance issues if using summer tyres in frosty January UK roads?
