Heading to Europe via Rotterdam, over Netherlands towards Arnhem and thinking into Germany , any suggestions for German campsites , was thinking down towards Mosel valley but looking at the sites they don’t look that inviting ( sites only please not Stelpatz) thanks for any info you can provide.😉

We stayed on Lorely Blick campsite, Mosel area I think, nice but the trains during the night were annoying to me but not to others.

We stayed on a Stellplatz that was almost like a campsite. Electric hook up and marked pitches BUT no toilet block. We loved it. It’s at Minheim if you are interested.

As above we have stayed on some lovely Stellplatz with all facilities, is there a reason you only want to use sites?

I agree. There are some super Stellplatz in the Mosel Valley. We have used one at Wintrich. Right on the river with a shower and toilet, if needed. Ample restaurants and a shop. Fantastic value!

On your way to the Mosel you could stay in Cologne in at (https://www.camping-berger.koeln/) a site just on the Rhine & just outside the LEZ, my first MH visit to Germany & the site whilst a tad wet was lovely, overlooking the river, lovely bike ride (about 6 ish Km into cologne along the river) & close public transport if needed. I think about 75E for three days incl electric

Knaus the Motorhome has campsites in Germany, I have seen a couple along the Mosel. Certainly there is one in Berncastle Kues and another between there and Koblenz somewhere, we tried to get in but they were fully booked.

We stayed for several days at Camping Belchenblick Staufen , lovely site a short walk into beautiful Staufen with restaurants etc and train and bus links for which the site gave us free passes to travel the Black Forest region .
The site had a cafe and bar with occasional traditional entertainment, loved it.

I m tight fisted so don't do campsites.

We were planning on following the Danube.

We are changing plans for June July to Baltic Germany. We knew it was stunning but further research reveals even better.

Owing to some areas being 25 euros a night for a stellplatz we have looked at some campsites.

Sylt (North sea coast island) poel rugen and usedom with all towns in between is our aim. Poel and Sylt seem very worthy but campsites appear a must. Hiddensee also expensive but only day trip on bikes

Yeah the Koblenz one appeals for location but looks rammed most of the time .

Thanks if we can’t get bookings we may need to use some of these , all the better if they have some facilities.

Be mindful that you could hit up to 3 German bank holidays, 18th and 29th May and also 8th June.

Not to far from the Mosel is this site, very handy for the village.
Looks great , we plan to head home via Belgium ( Ghent is on the list for sailing home from Rotterdam ) so is in good location for our currently sketchy route and will take in the Mosel too . Thanks.

Website is a bit crap with not many pictures of the site but it is a nice walk along the river to the village and they have a cracking cafe on site😋😋

Thanks for the input , very much appreciated. Very rough route in the making: :giggle: ferry from Hull to Rotterdam, head for Arnhem ( site we have stayed at before , love it) , then to Cologne ( Camping Berger, thanks Derek'soldvan) then to Koblenz ( Knaus site we think ) then follow Mosel to Saarburg ( thanks, Costal Cruiser) then .......... France / Luxemburg more Germany? ( any more suggestion most welcome) , then Ghent then Gouda then onto ferry Rotterdam to Hull. Plan 3'ish night stops in most sites, let us explore either on foot/bike/van.:dance2:

From Hook of Holland towards Mosel we stopped overnight at Breda (quiet road beside a canal) then on a site/camperstop at Weert. However, we really liked the marina at Hanssum, Neer. On the river (obviously) with hardstanding and power: limited to 48h.

Then to Gangelt, where a genuine campsite is run by members of a disabled community.

Several stellplatz until Fussen, which had all facilities BUT may be a stellplatz/camperstop in reality.

We stayed next to the lake at Cheimsee, but I'm not sure you would call it a site: I'm sure it's listed on the internet.

IF you are prepared to give marinas a go, then we liked Almen and one of our favourites is Almere, although that is probably too far north.

This is a nice stop in Luxembourg on the Mosel with Germany the other side of the river.
More of a Stelplatz but large pitches with grass and spotless dump facilities.
Nice little village that I think would be lively in the summer.
There is also a few German campgrounds the other side of the bridge.
