I have signed up as a member, how do I go about paying a subscription?

Click on your name in the blue bar at top of screen - Subscriptions is an option in the drop down menu.

I paid a three year subscription, yet every time I try to comment, it states I do not have enough privileges. I have confirmed my email umpteen times, but I still have to do it to make any posts. Am a wee bit fed-up having to each time. I love the site by the way, lots of good banter and info.

There's a long standing issue with the site where it tries to chuck you off saying you don't have enough privileges and saying you need to press the back button and refresh the page. I find it easier just to close the page and re-open it. I've no idea why this happens and have never seen it on other sites I use.

But it doesn't happen very often. I can only suggest clearing cookies. How you do that will depend on your browser but Google will be able to help.
