It's the middle of the night, so I don't really expect an answer. Our water tank is pretty much empty. The water pump seems to be constantly on.
Are the two related and will I break something if I turn the pump off with the heating on?
Do i have to put my dressing gown on and refill the tank?
We are on EHU.

No, is there an isolator switch for your pump that you can turn off until morning or a fuse you can pull? What sort of heating is it ?

The answer is yes to no water and a constantly running pump. The switch panel should give you a pump isolation switch.

Just turn your pump off

Leaving your pump running will not be good for the pump. You do not need your pump on for your heating to work. We always turn our water pump off during the night. It is possible that a lack of water can cause pump to run as it can’t pressurise the system.

Depends what pump you have. If it is a submersible one in your water tank it will burn out if running too long dry. As others have said you should have a pump master switch on your control panel. Switch it off there.

When the water tank is empty ours does not run, even when water is in the system it only runs when a tap is switched on. The pumps is powered when the taps are operated by their micro switch.

When refilling after draining our pump only operate with the taps open.

Thanks everyone, for taking the time to reply. I did turn the pump off and the heating and as it's not too cold we didn't freeze overnight. Refilled with water today and it's all fine.

You could have kept the heating on. Water not needed for heater.
