We got the Strikeback alarm system installEd last June and happily used it during the summer but now after a few months of not using the motorhome we are travelling again but have forgotten how to arm/disarm the alarm. I think (but please correct me if I’m wrong) to arm/disarm from outside it’s one short press on the small button, whereas to arm/disarm in sleep mode it’s one long press on the small button. Am I right?

i have strikeback but mine has been fitted for a number of years and that is not the sequence for sleep mode on mine. i suggest you get a replacement set of instructions from Vanbitz as you are likely in the future to need a little more info than arming and disarming.
try eddievanbitz for guidance.

Well my Strikeback/Growler fitted in Dec. requires just one press of the small button whether arming or disarming. Was told to ignore the big button. One press for arming gives two flashes of the indicator lights. One press for disarming gives one flash of the indicators. To disarm the inside sensors there is a little switch panel fitted. One switch reduces brightness of the outside blue led's and the other switch disables the inside movment sensor. It's still brand new to me but that is how it appears to work so far for me. On the point of selling my boat having cruised the Channel and European waterways for the past 40 years I am having to learn alot to become a land lubber; but slowly getting there I think!

I seem to remember being asked if I liked ABBA for turning off the internal sensors, whilst living in the van at night.
Those in the know should remember what I am talking about, and hopefully confirm.
The dash mounted switches are blue one for dimming outside blue LEDS, Red for turning off internal sounders, the third one is for the cycle security loop wire.
Its been a while since I used all the facilities, so I may be talking B####ks.

Every variation differs, the way the systems worked in the Nineties is different to how they work now, 30 years on, with lots of changes in between.

Rest assured though that every single installation is documented so a quick call to Van Bitz will answer any questions so long as you are their customer or have bothered to reg with them.

I retired last year so no longer have access to the files.

have bothered to reg with them.
Yes you’d be surprised how many people phone up and expect to be told how to by pass or disable a system, or want to know if a tracking system is fitted and if so where it is!

And get pissey when we’d point out the stupidity of charging Mrs Jones to protect her motorhome only to sing like a canary to Mr Smith about location and operation.

I don’t think this is a topic for an OPEN forum.
Tom, Dick & Harry can read this and get info.

To be honest, there’s nothing on here that would help a thief, just some people saying they can’t remember how to alarm their systems, and me repeating that I’ve retired, phone the office 😉

After the alarm was fitted, I also had a leaflet explaining how to operate the alarm.

God forbid suggesting anyone could read the instructions!

Nowadays, when people are ‘reaching out’ suggesting that they read the instructions is ‘disappointing’ ‘unhelpful’ and ‘negatively agressive’

Ash from vanblitz got back to me so I’m sorted. Thanks to all though, I see I’m not alone in forgetting instructions. It’s age!

Or as I was taught by my engineering teacher many moons ago,
"If all else has failed, then RTFI" (Read The eFfing Instructions)
