Hi everyone,

We've a gas-it 11 kg cylinder which has started making clinking noises every 20 or so minutes. It seems to do it regardless whether its in on or off positions. The cylinder was filled yesterday (prob 10th time in 8 months), today being the first time I noticed it. The cylinder is only 9 months old. Have checked flame is correct colour. Can this noise occur if cylinder over filled?

Any thoughts/ideas welcome.

Thanks and cheers all

I would contact them and send a video.

I had similar and they were very helpful.

No idea what had caused it as it was a new bottle. They swapped it for another.

Cheers, that's good to know gas-it were helpful. We're in southern France right now, back in UK soon. Hopefully they'll hold together till then 🤞

If it helps, mine clink very very slightly. It may be you never noticed before.

They actually showed me the float gauge that goes in the bottles. Certainly something that can wait if they have been working normally.

If they had been overfilled you would soon know as usually causes the regulator to ice up and massive flames out the hob. Had a safefill that wasn’t that safe once. :-(

For that reason, I always keep an eye on how much goes in.

Good idea, if only they had Litres as well as Kilogrammes printed on the bottle. Each time I refill I rack my brains to remember how many litres an 11Kg bottle holds at the safe fill level.

It’s approx twice the kg value. Ie 10kg Safefill is 19.5litres to 80% safe level if that helps. Actual conversion is 1.96 litres per kg.

Gaslow cylinder? On ours you can hear the level gauge as the van rocks when we're moving about inside the van.
Mike.

Thanks everybody. Sounds like it isn't anything serious to worry about. We've noticed it happens when we're moving about in the van.

See you on the roads
