Getting better
Can you store a single portable induction hob on its side? Thanks

Many thanks to you both, just checking!

The boss keeps saying the van is kitted out with better kit than home.

Last week bought one of these single induction hobs to cook outside with when on EHU.

Problem was the starter pans I got when buying the van are not compatible. So, yep a nice set of induction pans had to be bought
😂😂

Boss just roles her eyes and smiled 🥳🥳

Can I jump on this thread, please? I have a single induction hob at home and use Le Creuset pans on it. They're too heavy to take in the MH, so what other pans could I use on it, please?

Woks work as well.

Careful which Ingenio you buy, not all off them are Inductionable

We keep ours in a laptop bag, one of the padded sleeve type ones, works a treat.

I made a storage bag for mine out of the same padded material that silver screens are made from. It will protect from damage to it when stored. I can make them to order, please message me if interested

We use the Tower version of the Tefal saucepan set.Very happy with them and wouldn't be without our single induction hob now.We find a silicone splash mat useful as well to stop any sliding if not 100% level.

What an odd question ....You can store any cooking device on its side, upside down or right way up
There's nothing to leak or move around.

When I got my induction hob from Ikea I also got a cheap set of pans from them that were compatible. The hob is stored in a nice quilted sleeve that a friend made for me and I store it in the little warming oven that I never use!!
I too use silicone pastry mats as protectors on the glass tops of the gas hob and sink.

best place to store an Induction hob.. ?

In the kitchen at home, along with the Remoska, Air fryer, Toaster, Kettle, Slow Cooker, Microwave, Blender, .. blah blah blah .. some vans must look like Curry's electrical store..

40+ years camping and motorhoming with a gas hob .. and have never wanted or needed any 240v appliances to knock up a good meal... and I don't need a £3k off-grid power station or an EHU to do it

I'll get me hat ..:imoutahere:

just keep it simple and your problems will also be simple .

I wasn't sure if there was some internal part that might be affected. I'd rather ask first when not sure:giggle:

Thank you! I had no idea about that!! My husband won't thank you, though......I now need some magnetic SS pans!!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
You don't need a new set of pans you can buy an adaptor plate off eBay or Amazon for about a tenner then all pans will work.

Anything that a magnet will stick to the base.

Not very efficient though - turns it into an ordinary hotplate which may cause issues if too hot. I threw ours in the bin and simply got a couple of pans

Just bought one. Can you use them on top of the hob glass lid. I suspect there must be a minimum air gap between the magnet and base in the hob, but not sure how much this needs to be if this will induce heat in the hob burners or pan grills.
Nothing in the instructions
I have read about using a wooden chopping board underneath

On the Le Voyageur it simply sat on top of the glass of the hob (double induction hob) - the rubber feet kept it clear.

I'm with scotjimland - I go camping to get away from much which society & marketing departments has convinced us we cannot live without and I'm afraid that an induction hob falls into that category.

Started in a caravan many years ago and it was pure hell because we were constantly trying to replicate how we had things at home. As soon as I realised that was a long road to unhappiness (and downsized to a PVC) things got much easier. Then downsized to a VeeDub and things got easier still.

With two gas burners fitted into the van conversion I can cook a 'proper' meal with very little faff and effort, and am still on the same CampingGaz 907 cylinder which was in the van when I bought her. In the unlikely event that system fails I carry a little "cassette" stove which uses the aerosol-sized cans. Pubs, cafes, restaurants are also available :drinks::drinks:

scotjimland, can I share/borrow your hat ? :ROFLMAO:
