Long time caravanner, newbie motorhomer!
Afternoon all

I hope to be using the MH over the winter months but I’m just putting it away into storage. For how long it takes, I want to do most of the stuff you would do if you were leaving it for a good while as you never know really how long it’s going to be stood for. It’s an official storage yard; Cassoa Silver. What is Everyone’s opinion on blinds open or closed? I know with previous caravans I used to close them and most of them in the yard are here but I’ve had trouble with them in the past not retracting and know that really you are not meant to.

Secondly the Ducato cab has an electronic handbrake. I would prefer to leave it off if possible to stop it potentially seizing on. I can’t see anything in the handbook but is there a way of releasing the electronic handbrake and just leaving it in Park as it’s an auto.

Experiences and opinions welcome. Thanks very much Andy

Close the blinds.
Leave the front cab vent open and a rear rear roof light slightly open to allow ventilation through the van.
Take out any soft furnishings - Towels and bedding. Stand the mattress on their sides
I have no idea about electronic handbrakes

Closed, minimises temperature changes. Moisture forms when warm air cools. The blinds improve the insulation, both in the day when it heats up and at night when it cools down.

I have a compromise. I half close mine blocks some sun but doesn't stretch them. Have never removed anything apart from bedding and some clothing. As long ss ventilation is adequate you shouldn't get any damp

Often asked at this time of year.
Here you go, 30 opinions on the same question posted yesterday

We have a car with an electronic handbrake and it automatically releases when you move off and to put it on again we flip its switch; can you move off a couple of mm and then not flip switch? Personally I always leave van in gear with handbrake on and have not (yet!) had a problem. I think it's wise to run it at least every few weeks. Ours pines if we don't visit.

Our car is similar but you can leave it in park and forget to put the electric handbrake on. The software must be different.
