I have a pinhole leak in the main power steering hose on my Honda CRV (mk3). Takes a while for the fluid to leak out all over the engine but it does do it over time.

Got an MOT coming up, a replacement hose is about the same as the value of the car, but I don;t want to replace the car for a couple of months yet.

So - my question is has anyone used one of the various "stop leak" products, and if so, does it actually work? It;s only a temp fix for sure.

The leak is very small, and topping up the fluid lasts for about 4-5 weeks before needing another top up.

Have you tried any of the hydraulics hose people, they will make you one for a fraction of the honda one.
The other stuff , you might as well p... On it.

Stop leak would work on the seals not the hose. Plug it with something a small self tapper perhaps and duct tape bandage for the MoT and replace ASAP.

That tends to be my default position on these things, too. But I thought I'd ask. I've contacted that company to see what they can do, thanks.

I was planning on doing something like that, but I was wondering if a duck taped up hose would look suspicious to the MOT person? No idea how MOTs work these days :)

If it is not leaking it is not a fail. Leaking most likely a major fail and not allowed back on the road until fixed..

Self amalgamating tape maybe but you will need to wrap it tight with layers as its quite thin and wrap well passed the leak on each side.

oo, nice idea (I had to look that up!)
Plenty on Amazon or Screwfix if you have one local.

Sorry edited my post. Make sure you wrap it tight with layers and go well passed the leak on either side.

Stretch it as you apply it and it bonds to itself and grips/sticks to the surface. Just make sure its free of oil first though and no pressure in the system. For £4 its worth a punt, if it does work then thats all you have lost.

Loads of videos online showing how to use it.
