I would like to get a spare wheel that I would carry under the bed in our van. Have seen genuine 16 inch alloy to mount a tyre on or am I better getting a plain steel wheel but unsure what I need. Would prefer a steel wheel that can take one of the 16 inch Michelin tyres coming of my van or is it better getting a 15 inch steel tyre? I believe I need an adaptor to mount the steel wheel? Does the Ducato need a specific jack as will need to by one too.

if loading isnt an issue, then i would get an alloy,

if youre using a 'pre loved' tyre then i would fit a steel wheel, so youre not tempted to keep it n longer than required to replace/fix your original.

we have a vehicle jack under the front passenger seat in our ducato, is it worth checking to see if you have one? though of course you might have already checked LOL

My van has alloys and a steel spare, I weighed them once and there was nothing between them weight wise if that's part of your concern, plus they use the same wheel bolts, something else to consider ?

If you get an Alloy to match your wheels it makes it easy to rotate tyres.
Bolts on Alloy wheels are sometimes 2mm longer and can foul when used on steels wheels, it depends on the running gear.

Alloy spare good if you "kerb" one of the 4 in use.
Been fitting my alloy spare under the fixed bed.
Will post some photos when done.
Or even a short if I can remember how.
