STAYSURE HEALTH INSURANCE

That is correct Calais is too far for me as we have a long journey at other side. The point I am making is other people in same circumstances are given more than 3 cancellations due to the extenuating unprecedented circumstances.
I fully understand everyone’s circumstances are different and don’t know where you’re heading in the UK, but we can do Folkestone to Cumbria in a day if needed. If you’ve got an even longer journey this side (Highlands, say, or even on to Ireland,) then surely you’ll be used to driving long journeys? It may be less than ideal, particularly with sites shut, but surely in the overall scheme of things it may be a lesser problem than being stuck in Spain with no travel insurance in current circumstances? I think most Camping Car Parks are open in France for an overnight en route.

Our 6 month health insurance costing 1300 has expired and due to coronavirous we are still here in spain waiting for a Brittany ferries boat from Santander to uk been cancelled 4 times. We have had 2 extensions granted by staysure but now we are on our own. I would have thought in present circumstances they would have allowed further extension as its out of our control. As anyone else experienced this.

out of interest, where is home in the UK?

Only found out our Staysure insurance was cancelled after I got in touch to ask. Seemingly I didn't follow the government "ADVICE" in April to return back to the UK so policy void. Still had 6 months left on the policy but no refund as policy had started. Nov19-Oct20. Told me to leave the motorhome in Spain and get a flight back ?

Contracts cannot be cancelled by third parties 'advice' and in any case they would have to notify you. I'd be having a word with the Insurance Ombudsman on that one!

then fly home would have been safest. The car could have been parked up or a friend drive it back up to the uk. More than once we have been on rallies where people have fallen ill or died and friends rally round to drive the van home. Usually with the partner of the driver taking their own van

First off I sent a email asking then noticed 2 missed calls so rang back and this is part of the email back after phone call. Policy still had 6 months to run.

We have travel insurance through RBS. They load the premium by £70 per person once you reach age 70. They also load the premium substantially if you being prescribed with more than two pills even for common afflictions. I guess the overall cost depends on individual medical circumstances. They also load the premium depending on the number of days cover you want. For what it is worth they didn’t load the premium for a trek to Everest base camp provided I didn’t go higher than 18000ft :)

How is it outwith your control? Why cant you drive up through France like many others have done?
I would have thought after 4 cancellations the drive to Calais would appear the best bet its only a couple of days.

I suspect the problem is that if a new policy is taken out it won't cover covid wheras an extension of a policy in place before the pandemic might. Of course if they did decide to allow an extension you would expect the extra cost to reflect the situation now rather than 6 months ago in terms of the likelyhood of a claim and its size. Even if they would offer cover it could be similar to when our 17 year old son was offered a£20,000 premium to insure him to drive a£400 car!

An age extension costing £65.00 is required when you hit 70 and only applies to one person per account (so if your partner was also 70 that would be another £13.00 per month for his/her cover). In addition there is extra to pay for pre medical existing conditions.
I thought a joint account covers both of you, our Lloyds one does. Also Lloyds cover you up to 80, but extensions above the standard 45 days can get expensive.

Not trying to be clever, just asking, if he is in a car why is he asking on here, if he has a long way to travel on this side what's wrong with traveling through France, what's the difference?

The distance? Unable to stop overnight.
