Getting the hang of it
Anyone had any recent experience staying overnight in the carpark opposite Bamburgh castle.
Is the council overnight trial up and running or can we expect a fine.

It ought to be but there was a big NO overnight sign last year.
That is another big empty carpark going to waste.

I seem to remember reading that the trial is starting beginning of April. Can’t remember where I read it though.

I was up there a couple of weekends ago although staying somewhere else, there were motorhomes parked in a row at one end of the carpark. I might be popping up to Bamburgh butchers for some sausages on Wednesday, if so I'll have a look for you. Alternatively try the castle, email or call, they are very helpful.

Thanks wanderlust have emailed the council but no reply yet ,its only been a week after all 🤨 may try ringing them but would prefer written confirmation.

Just received this reply from Northumberland council about parking at Bamburgh.

Thank you for your enquiry in relation to Motorhome Parking.

We are currently finalising some planning details and hope to be making provision for Motorhome parking in the near future.

We hope that we will be able to announce this and implement it by mid-April. I would ask that you check on the County Council website at that time, as soon as it is in place it will be announced on the Northumberland County Council website and the full details will be available to the public, with regards to booking and all of the locations.

As far as I’m aware the car park belongs to the council not the castle.
Yes it does, but if the op was not getting a reply from northumberland council then the helpful castle staff, who pass that car park every day and overlook it, would know if motorhomes were there overnight.

Just adding to this thread for other visitors.
We stayed at the council carpark opposite the castle overnight on Sunday. I booked and paid online in advance, I did want Saturday but it was fully booked.
There are only 6 narrow spaces crammed together in one corner of the massive carpark. Thankfully we were 2 PVCs and a VW T6 together with one coachbuilt on the end who had to ignore the stern message to park “wholly within the lines “ ! I have been on French aires and this has nothing on it.
The charge is £12 for 6pm to 8am which is not enough if you also want to visit the Castle so extra parking charges apply. Leaving by 8 am is fair enough for free parking but a bit mean otherwise when no visitors come at that time. Day parking is £8. Getting up and getting a whoosh bang ready for 8 am departure is very anti social when only a foot away.

The large coach bays would be better for MHs overnight.
The Castle car park up by the castle is £4 for the day leave by 6:30 pm so we used that, drove to Seahouses for fish and chip supper and came back to our space. You have to book a specific numbered space, 1 and 6 on the ends had been taken so I booked number 5. I had been seduced by photos of the castle lit at night, it looked spectacular ……. completely forgetting that it was midsummer and north, so sky still light at 11pm when we gave up and went to bed. I wish we hadn’t bothered to stay there

There is no charge for blue badge holders during daytime hours at the castle carpark.
Don't know about overnight.

2014 we stayed around here. Did not have GPS Enabled but it was north of the castle, but with the castle in-view.

I walked to the one on the right in your photo, it has a height barrier as does the one further along Links Road with the toilets.
the place we stayed at was just after the height barrier. It was 2014
