I'm a Total Newbie!
I think my starter battery is knackered.

It's reading 11.4 V. I had it charging for over 3 hours and it's still not starting the van. Even when I attach my jumper pack!

Before I tried charging it, it made a clicking noise. Now when I turn the key I get nothing at all?

I guess it's totally knackered?

Is there anything I should look for when buying a new one? It's a 2013, 2.2L Boxer van. The current starter battery is 100 ah.

Clicking noise. Starter motor issue? Especially when you mentioned having attached a jumper pack and it still failed. Mmm.

What voltage is the battery after removing from the charger and resting it for a while?

Could also be the Earth strap on gearbox failed

Try turning headlights on when jumping :
Turn to start
Headlights go dim or out batt duff.
Headlight little change and clicking, bad earth.

Have you not got a batt center near you?

Thanks for the replies. I will try the above next time I am back in Cheshire before I spend the hard earned on a new battery! 💸

Yes as said ,check the starter and earth connections. If you can't start with a jumper battery and its not charging up I would renew the earth strap from the engine battery or put another on to a different earth point.

If its over 8 years old - definitely. If not check the battery connections are tight first.
