not long enough

Of all the potential U.K. places we could have been to and haven’t yet I think I mention Staithes more than any others

So tomorrow I am going to put that right, taking a 2 night stay over option for £20, seems great value despite some of the review comments

Anybody else been there?

Apparently the Cod and Lobster restaurant comes highly recommended. Not made it there myself yet, but I've got it bookmarked for when I do.

Staithes will be glorious today. Lovely spot. Hope you enjoy it David.

Definitely don't drive further past the car park. It's similar to Robin Hoods Bay, very steep, narrow road down to the sea. (No problem from A174 to Bank Top carpark).
It's a lovely place and well worth a visit.
Didn't know about the overnight parking though. Thanks for the info.

Edit, looks like the overnight place is before you reach the main carpark?

Been to Staithes many times though never stayed there in the van. Apart from Staithes itself, there are lovely walks nearby and Runswick Bay, just down the road, is lovely and not as busy as the similar Robin Hood’s Bay, with twisting streets, fishermans’ cottages, sandy bay.
Do post back when you’ve been and let us have details of the site you stayed at please. 👍
Edit: Oops. Seen the details in your later post.

I've been a few times but stayed at the site in Hinderwell (prices have gone up like most places:rolleyes:) and walked the coastal path down to Staithes, it's lovely around there.
I've usually timed it to co incide with the art festival which is great

Been before and well worth going!

The pub on the seafront has good food and well priced. It’s full of air bnb’s near the sea but is very picturesque. Co op a short walk away back toward the main road.

If the weather is good the car park gets rammed! Pick your spot carefully while it’s empty late in the evening.

I happened by chance to go when this was on Debs. It was lovely, ending with the local fishermen's choir singing and walking up the hill with the audience following, stopping now and then for another song. Brilliant. 🤗

We went once - just to visit but main carpark too tight for the PVC so didn’t stay. Hope the S4S one not too far out.

If you go through the first car park there is a private overflow one. There are no marked bays, it’s just grass. Confusing as they are literally next to each other.

So far so good, parked up in top corner of car park, no obvious allocated spaces, don’t think I would fancy my chances so well at a weekend

S4S suggests you can park for 48 hours for £20, but when you come to pay online the motorhome options are £10 for 12 hours or £15 for 24, there are longer term options but they don’t mention motor homes specifically 🤔

I have paid the £20 for 48 hour option and sent an email to query if that’s right, so either here till Weds or overpaid and leaving tomorrow 🙄🙂

Eldest daughter has just messaged me and told me to stay hydrated , so I am off to check the pub options 😁

First impressions from the drive in from main road, the place looks tired at best a dump if being a little mean, hoping the bit down to and by the sea is better

But have spotted a crab sign, so provided they are dressed and not too tourist priced that’s todays tea sorted, unless I am tempted into a pub of course 🤔🙂 then it will be crab tomorrow for lunch

You will find the front much, much nicer.

A classic example though of locals being forced to buy further inland as the price of the seafront properties must be huge. All I remember is most seemed to be air b and b places and no locals lived by the sea.

Took a look at food options while at sea front, two pubs both open for drinks but not food till later so came back up

Probably sourced the earlier niff which seems to have gone 👍

And as my wonderful first wife would never allow such things in our MH and as I am away on my own I bought two 😁

Reduced end of day bargain £8 each instead of £10 👍

We went for the day at late May BH.

The first car park to the left of the loos and cafe is separate to the one on the right, where you can stop overnight, with separate machines, which is why they show the location on a Google map on the parking fees sign. I imagine they are very hot on enforcement, there's lots of signs telling you that they are different car parks, but still looks easy to pay for the wrong one. Just need to be aware!

The free WiFi didn't work for me, and no Voda signal.

There is a non-signposted path back up from the front, branches off from the coastal path as it turns south, but lethal in the wet.

The ice cream on the corner at the bottom of the road is very good.

Although I technically might have paid for two nights , the car park management company haven’t replied yet 🤔

I can now tick off Staithes, didn’t do it for me, but the older I get the harder I am to please 🙄😁

Moved on and found a lovely C&MHC site at Rosedale Abbey, lovely little village , great pub opposite site

Site has no toilet block which is fine for me, very weak mobile signal EE but pub has great WiFi 😁👍

And on my own it’s only £15 / night including electric.

I did go all rogue and drove in from north, despite club saying under no circumstances should you 🙄😁 presumed they mean caravans it was a lovely drive in 👍
