St Andrews Motorhomes

We bought our first motorhome from them. Remember Christine very well. No complaints then but it was about 6 years ago. Gave us a decent trade in on caravan.

"Once couple in particular have been hit particularly hard by the companies downfall.

Pensioners Carol and Robert Moore, from Dunoon Argyll, put their pension funds into a Peugeot Boxer that they then decided to sell on. The funds from the sale, approximately £32,000 was going to go toward a trip to Canada that the pair had hoped to go on.

The conformation of sale had been received by the couple but they have yet to be given any money. The alleged sale took place over 2 months ago."

That, dear readers, illustrates perfectly the risk of trusting a dealer to sell your MH for you on commission. If the dealer become insolvent, your sale proceeds are not protected at all if the buyer's money is received by the dealer's general bank account/overdraft. In reality the dealer's Bank keeps it all. Beware.

[Excuse the appalling spelling and grammar in the original extract from the Caravantimes link. Nothing to do with me, I assure you.]

We also bought our first van from them and had excellent service, Christine also gave my wife an excellent confidence building lesson in driving a big motorhome. Sad to see them go as much because it will mean one less independent dealer and more business for the big companies who take big margins

and at her age how is being banned from holding a directorship going to materially impact her?

Very same as Camper NE. These b....... took me for over £20,000. Nice houses and nice lifestyle still happening. The law doesn't punish these bandits enough. As with Camper NE directors, life for them will still be sweet as they are Ltd. This allows all sorts of fraud that they can get away with it legally.

I know its always after the event but if HMRC have banned her from being a company director and you have lost money there is Civil Law to fall back on, greater minds than mine have pondered this but if you have lost out then claim back on her estate and if you can prove that he/she has deliberately palmed the funds so as to not be liable ( Cars/Houses/Lifestyle) then point this out, we had two lots of neighbours (no names no pack drill) who were using this scam firstly in his and then in her name to fleece customers with no conscience. Lotus 7 race cars BMW RR 1000 motorcycles and £50,000 motorboats and children in private education ....................sold house and relocated and father in law declared bankrupt at 66, no involvement in company other than a name,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and who is going to pursue a 66 year old with nothing? It all boils down to conscience, If you can fleece the general public for in excess of £600,000 why have a conscience? You sell up your partners assets which are not subject of the bankruptcy will fund and use that to fund another scam ( banned twice from running a company) makes no difference just boils down to how you can live with yourself...........basic answer ......move house. new area and sod off the rest of you!"
