Speedway........

Either Eurosport or BT Sport, I've not heard which one yet. First live match for me is this Thursday when we (Sheffield)take on Peterborough.

Have some great memories of visiting Owlerton back in the 60’s.
For many years I had a season ticket when there was seating in the main stand under the bar / restaurant. The home straight with the starting / finish line was also on this side, unlike today’s arrangement.
I had the privilege to witness many of the sports greatest riders.
Thanks for the info on the tv coverage, I hope this will be a regular feature, I lost out when coverage transferred from Sky to BT Sport.
I will watch with interest, but have to admit I know nothing about today’s modern-day riders, who for me will lack the magic of my former sporting heroes.

I know what you mean, I started going in the early 60's when the stadium was packed all the way round. Now it's only the start/finish straight and bends 3/4 that are open to spectators.

Brought back memories for me, watching Rye House Rockets in my younger years. 😁 Bob.

As young lads back then, we never had a great deal of brass in our pockets. So we used to arrive early on race nights in the hope that one of the riders would let us carry some of their equipment into the stadium, that way we had free entry for the nights meeting. Think management put a stop to this practice eventually, but I was lucky a couple of times. 😉 Can’t believe it’s 60 + years ago !!! 😯

Used to love my racing at Swindon.

Late 60’s early 70’s was taken by a neighbour and her boyfriend.
We didn’t have a car or the money to get in.

Always wanted to ride Speedway as a kid but lack of funds put a stop to that.

But I could sling a push bike around like a speedway bike 😊
