This sparrowhawk - I'm assuming a juvenile (does anybody know if it's male or female?) has teken to sitting on the fence at the bottom of the garden, occasionally diving onto the small garden birds on next door's feeders. S/he was there about 10 minutes this morning, having a bit of a preen, and here opening up tail & wings to the sun. You can even see the "eyes in the back of his head".

I would have gone female due to the amount of brown, but the stripes on breast could swing me to a juvenile male

Here you go! Take your pick !

We had one in the garden a few weeks ago Wendy..... it did catch a small bird:(
It stayed about ten minutes then flew off with its prey....we haven't seen it since though.
