Where the best place to get one.Goining to Spain an France for 7 weeks in September. So think it's best I get one.
Thanks Tim

depends what you want, you can get a budget tyre on a rim new on fleabay. or you can buy a rim and match your existing tyres.

or there were some going in the forums classified . dont know if they are still there.

there are a couple on ebay selling new wheels with different tyre options.
you need to know the size and PCD of the wheels. or is it a light or heavy chassis.

If buying an after market rim check the load rating a lot are lower than OEM ones.

Yes had thought of just taking a matching spare tyre.To save on payload.
How does that work if I get a flat in middle of France.
I am with the AA.will they be happy to take me to the garage.or is there people who can come to us to change road side.

We have European breakdown cover tagged on to our insurance with Comfort for around £65.
I don't feel the need to carry a spare tyre. We do have the Fiat goo and and compressor kit.

We recently bought a new motorhome which didn't come with a spare wheel.
Our motorhome has alloys, but I bought a steel rim and purchased a tyre from Kwik Fit.
The spare tyre is the same make/type as the other four.
This is important if travelling in France where I understand you cannot mix tyres of different types on the same axle.
I would not consider driving to France/Spain without having a spare wheel.

Not much the AA (others available) can do at roadside if your tyre wrecked and you don't have a spare for them to fit.
Yes to space.weight not sure.
If weight was an issue for me I would leave something else behind.... Absolutely no way would I venture out without a spare.

We thought about carrying a spare tyre only but decided to carry a complete spare. Care should be taken with the wheel bolts, in our care we have the Fiat Heavy chassis with alloy wheels and the spare is a steel one meaning the wheel bolts may be different. Re having a tyre failure in France. Not many garages carry CP tyres as a lot of the French vans just us CV tyres.and some will not fit a different make or tread patten unless they are fitted in pairs. So at least carrying a tyre of the same make and tread pattern is a start. We have had a holiday cottage near Limoges for nine years and know our local tyre depot as they drink in the same places as we do and found them very helpful. But even there when I took my trailer down for a new tyre, he said if you park around the corner and just bring the wheel in I can fit just one new tyre but if the trailer is here I have to fit two as I cant match the one on the other axle.

Problem with the Fit goo is if you get a cut in the sidewall it won’t fix it. (Found that out one night pouring down with rain on a blind bend)

I had alloys and a steel spare on the last mh. It was only when I took it to my usual indie for mot that he told me I needed different wheel bolts for the spare. Which he provuded FOC.

How do you check if the same bolts will do?
(I assume the best way to check is to remove a wheel and fit the spare).
They are standard Fiat alloys on a light chassis.

I have the Fiat CCS chassis with Fiat alloys, I bought a new steel wheel and matching tyre continental CP for £100 and can assure you the bolts from the alloys fit perfectly on the steel wheel, Mercedes van need different studs for a steel wheel.
