Apologies for late response, are these fitted direct to rear wall as we have no hardball to get firm fixings, especially incase of an accident.I screwed a couple of saddle clips to the rear wall and held the wheel in place with a camlock strap.
Sorry want it internal don't fancy scrabbling underneath as it's bound to be raining....See my ad for a Ducato spare wheel carrier underslung in the classifieds Job sorted!
Agreed may have to do this, only issue blocks access to under bad storage from the garage..Mine is fitted to the back wall, and uses the bike rack mounted that were all ready fitted. But really would have preferred it fitted to the front of the garage as that is the way force will happen in an accident, and you don’t want to damage the rear wall of van
Would love to have a spare wheel but not a lot of space. Underneath is taken up with the grey water tank so can’t fit the factory option. Anyone come across roof mounting for a PVC?
Just screwed to the rear wall of the garage my internal walls are aluminium.Apologies for late response, are these fitted direct to rear wall as we have no hardball to get firm fixings, especially incase of an accident.
cheers, we have issue of rear wall is not wooden so fixings will be awful. Dont think rivet nuts will hold as assuming as its rear wall lightweight panelling, 2 pieces of plastic will insulation between, google image apologies. All shelving and wood looks really too nice to put brackets in and dont want to damage anything as its furniture ply so awful for fixing. Will this do you.
Fitted a few days ago.
The straps are a couple of old ratchet straps.
Don't know what the shackles are called. They are fixed using the fixings shown and they in turn fit through a drilled hole and screwed causing the plug to splay out.
The wood is two pieces of 4x2 fixed together with two mending plates and there are two wedges to prevent lateral movement. They are screwed into the 4x2.View attachment 876916View attachment 876915View attachment 876917
Our rear locker is very similar to yours and our spare wheel resides flat on the floor where your tool kit is shown.cheers, we have issue of rear wall is not wooden so fixings will be awful. Some " Uni rail " fixed to the walls using "prong/ T nuts " will give a superb anchoring system. If you have a bike rack, there'll be a horizontal timber rail in the rear wall that is the fixing point for that, they can normally be spotted ghosting through the ABS plastic.cheers, we have issue of rear wall is not wooden so fixings will be awful. What screws did you use for the saddle clips. I'd like to raise mine off the floor to free up stowage space under the spare. Would the rear wall on my Exsis take the weight, do you suppose? I'm thinking it should if I could put a bike rack on the outside.I screwed a couple of saddle clips to the rear wall and held the wheel in place with a camlock strap.
My internal walls are aluminium so I used No. 10 self tappers. If you have a timber wallboard interior wall I would fit a large square of ply so you can get a decent fixing. What screws did you use for the saddle clips. Nothing in ours. Maybe you're right. Caution prevails. Our spare is like all insurance....a fixed cost you hope/believe you'll never needMy internal walls are aluminium so I used No. 10 self tappers. Our last van an Exsis had a factory fit spare the bracket for it mounted the wheel about 9" of the deck, it was a back breaking pain to get it back on the bracket, it's much better resting on the floor.
I always rotate mine so it gets used.Nothing in ours. Maybe you're right. Caution prevails. Our spare is like all insurance....a fixed cost you hope/believe you'll never need
