Spare wheel and carrier (1 Viewer)

Is there any reason why I cannot carry a spare wheel onboard a campervan? Yes, it would take up space but it would be a lot easier to access than one slung underneath - not to mention the weight of the carrier required to support it and the cost/time involved.

None whatsoever, with the provisional that it was stored in such a manner as to not cause injury, or worse, in the case of an accident.

You'd have to seriously reinforce the bodywork if carrying it outside, e.g. on the back wall or rear doors.

The Ducato mechanism for the underslung carrier does not weigh very much. I took it off last year to clean it up and preserve the underneath, less than 5kg I think. It only takes a minute to wind the wheel down too.

Would be good if someone made a roof mount as we don’t have room underneath for the carrier.
