I've just been to an orienteering competition in inland Murcia. Frost on the ground when we arrived, but people walking about in the sun in tee shirts.

Its clouded over a bit now and the temperature is dropping. There's no wind, luckily (not like yesterday), so it's not too bad.

I'm expecting a cold night though if the cloud clears.

I still like Spanish winters over British winters ?. We have had numerous Christmas lunches outside with (direct sun on the thermometer) 30+°

Last January Aranjuez campsite just below Mardrid it was minus 6 cent. pipes frozen up except shower/toilet block , but, Madrid is high above sea level. next day down on south coast really warm

I think Madrid is the highest capital city in Europe !

It's crapola weather today, showers and more showers but mild. Prefer the frost.

We have a family tradition where at midnight New Years Eve we throw buckets of water out onto the street. It froze the next day and took the council a week to get grit onto the pavement.

We go toSanta Pola just south of Alicante where at the moment is is just under20 . Because of the mountains surrounding Alicante and the salt extraction the weather tends to be better in the winter than the south of Spain

Wejee-we haven't ever been to Santa Pola but hope to do that whilst we travel-we have been told it is really nice there We are in Salinas now, close to Sax and weather is dry but foggy and a bit windy-seems to change day by day in this area. Better than UK though

WFA. The rules remind me of my mother telling me off all my life for being born 15 minutes after midnight on the 6th April 1954. They missed out on the “pram allowance” for that year. If she was still alive I would now be blaming her for not taking up the midwife’s offer of recording my birth at just before midnight on 5th April. I missed out this year by just one day. Is there such a thing as being too honest?

The story goes I was born 1 minute to midnight on November the 9th
As I was mums first and she had a long labour, they put it down as a minute past so she would get an extra day recouping
Of course I have no way of checking now but it was a story told very often !!

It's hissing down now in Beni and set to last for a few days, they have moved the vans up from the bottom of Torreta this afternoon so flooding may be expected. All Snowbirds activity will now be 'indoors' !!!

Glorious sunshine here today, clear blue skies And single number temps, fantastic 4 degs today. The front lawn managed to defrost by late afternoon.
Another 4 degs tomorrow and tonight another minus 1 deg. Frost covers on the car.
