Imagine only way would be to put one out through a roof light. Blue tack and a metal plate 😉

I decided to get the official device which would stick on the cab door and another which has a hanging hook that I would hang from a rear window in the event of a problem.

I notice that it must be “connected” rather than battery powered. I wonder how long the cable is and what sort of connection it requires?

Not required until 1st January 2026.

Could you please let me know from where you got this?

I wondered about this but I remember reading somewhere (probably on N332) that they will have a gps sender in them so that when activated the recovery service/ police will know where you are and that you need help. As in “connected” maybe?

You are not advised to use warning triangle on UK motorways either

Here you go……….

From 1 January 2026 drivers who need to warn others of an emergency in Spain will have to use a warning light device which includes a connectivity system. It means that in just over three years the current warning lights and the traditional emergency triangles will be things of the past.

In the event of an accident or breakdown the devices, called V16 beacons, will send details of the vehicle’s location to the Directorate-General for Traffic’s DGT 3.0 Cloud every 100 seconds once activated, and the information can be picked up quickly by other connected vehicles.

I bought mine this year from a local hardware shop in Los Alcazares, 33€ and the only one available which they stocked because of the new rules. It is usb chargeable and you can also use it as a torch
Is it a V16? It does say in the article if you buy one now you may have to buy another with connectivity now we know what that means.

Yes the regulation says it has to be a V16 type as this type does two things
1. It is plugged in all the time so it does not go flat after hours of continuous use and
2. It it’s a nationwide signal to show where you are broken down.
Other types of flashing lights operate on battery’s and do not give out a signal to where you are broken down

Yes it is. I always find it a little difficult interpreting DGT legislation as it’s written but I thought I was buying the correct future proof item, especially when spending 33€. Of course I could have been sold a dud 😜. Here are some photos of what I bought.

Well certainly looks the right model

I don't intend going to Spain in my MoHo but thought the beacon idea was a good one [visibility] so got myself two of these:
Amazon product ASIN B0863RZY7MPlugs into the vehicle battery via a 12v plug
One for the van, one for the car - hopefully never have to use them
No GPS alert of course - but then I have SatNav and What3Words

Phew. Magnetic will do well on my bike.... just have to find the metal not covered in Japanese plastic then..... ;)

I've carried one for a year or more.... I've said before they are very effective and attached to my Citroen car like a limpet...however this car has emergency call out system enabled by push button or airbag activation.
Our motorhome is Aluminium and it won't fix...except on the cab area..👍🇪🇦
