I’m a Newbie
I have been on the DGT .es website & cannot see whether you can apply for a clean air certificate online & that they will post it to the UK ?, I have had my Crit aire & the one from Germany arrive in the post.
The Spanish one is it only available from a local post office when you are out there ?.

My understanding (I may stand to be corrected) that it is for Spanish registered vehicles only......unsure if it may change in the future

I believe it will change & all foreign registered vehicles will have to have clean air stickers like France & Germany , it’s another money maker , can’t see the Spanish not adhering to EU directive , they haven’t got there way allowing the Brits to stay more than 90 days in 180 !🥲

What's "not getting their way" please?

Links to official requests?

The Spanish were trying to get around the 90 day rule to allow foreigners to stay 180 in one go , like we were allowed to do when we were in the EU

FOR Spain asking to get around the 90 days for foreigners to stay for 180 days in one go.
i had read it a while back in either Sur in English ,the Olive Press or Euro Weekly can’t remember which paper .
Now the Spanish are up in arms about the proposed tourist tax aimed at any non EU citizens .

Here is one site to read the request

So it's all newspaper bullsh1t.

The proposed "tourist tax" is the ETIAS visa waiver. £6 to last for three years. Proposed since 2016 when the UK was in favour.

Again newspaper's stirring 🙄

I've registered my Hymer as a foreign vehicle so I can drive in the low emission zones in Barcelona. You don't get a sticker it's just an entry in their database so their ANPR cameras know I'm registered. Cost 7 euros.

It might do but as there are only 2 zones, barca & madrid at the moment it might take some time. I have a sticker but the nearest zone to me is Madrid
* Oh & as said no you can't get a sticker .

Yes as it applies to all & every european country & not just spain & is nothing to do with "tourists" ,or a 'tax' just security

I think Barca is the only place you can do that.I don't even think Madrid offers it?

I agree. Looking at N332 website only Spanish vehicles can obtain this and others don't need it if they have the French or German ones

Good grief.....I can now see why Jesus had such a bad time getting the message across..
He didn't have access to Olive Press and Euroweekly. 🤔🇪🇦👍😃😃
I think the last one was actually the daily fail online that bastion of unbiased reporting! As far as I'm aware there have been no official requests to allow brits to stay longer but any suggestions are eagerly jumped on as "evidence" that Spain is being forced to tow the line. What I think is pretty well documented is the Spannish tightening up on lots of brits who were there living off the radar.

How would they collect the fine? we are not in the EU, my understanding is the governments don't share info any more because of exit.

the UK & Spain did a deal a couple of weeks ago in return for allowing the unregistered brits who were too lazy/hiding to swop there driving licences without need for a test they have agreed full access to each others details & info for offences.https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/...oved-spanish-ministers-20230314182913-nt.html

I have to say that this is a somewhat narrow view of the process that has been going on since Brexit. Other EU countries agreed a swap arrangement but Spain held out for the big data. I understand the reason and don't disagree with their aspiration. However the UK did not have to give this to other nations and it became a sticking point. I agree that those UK driving licence holders already with residency were foolish to think they could have avoided swapping their licences until it was too late. Indeed those who have had residency for some time and have renewed their UK licence in the meantime may be in some difficulty and be required to take a Spanish test. However the agreement accomadates ongoing UK immigrants to Spain by providing a process to obtain a Spanish exchange licence without the need for a test. All thoroughly reasonable. I am one of these and I am neither lazy or hiding, and am happy to play by the Spanish rules.

Yes that has already been proven long before brexit was even thought of, by a brit & a norwegian both non drivers, & who became residents then took driving tests in their respective countries. When attempting to 'exchange' were told that not only could they not but they also could not legally drive on the licence they had until they passed a spanish test. I've always wondered about it as I have a Latvian friend who did not drive , is a Uk resident & took & passed her test there. I doubt that Latvia would say the licence had to be retaken.

My complaint is with those who have been here 20 years , failed to obtain residency then were allowed to apply after the UK voted out. Should never have been allowed / no idea why it was? To then fail also to exchange the licence..............
