Has anyone been asked when checking onto sites about proving that they are able to fund their holiday in Spain. I understand that there's a raft of new questions including producing a bank statement ? We're heading back this winter and wondered how people were approaching this ?

Thank you.

No such questions asked, by the way Winter is over.

On an automated Camperstop in Castile la Mancha...the machine said...Welcome and took 6€. I think they know I have unlimited funds as I paid for a second night...😄😄
I had to give them a Passport or ID number, email address and vehicle registration number...oh...country of Residence too..🤗🧑‍✈️

The finance question would be on entry in to Spain, it's not for individual businesses I'm assuming.

Spain does not want the burden of having folk here that cannot support themselves, this in itself can lead to other consequences...
Therefore it's a requirement of entry...as is checking criminal records which will be more proactive when electronic entry systems are introduced.

So, does this mean you are going to have a recent bank statement printed out to show at the border? Which is fine on the way out, but maybe not on the way back.

We need details, if this is true.

Would showing your latest statement on your banking app be easier ? It would also have the advantage of being in real time.

I thought it had been the case for years that you could be asked to demonstrate you had the means for your visit but not really implemented. I thought the new rules were for the places where tourists stayed eg hotels, sites etc.

We stay on sites which is why I'm asking . Apparently displaying your banking app details is not acceptable .

It’s always been the case that officials can ask for proof of funds to sustain your stay in a country can be asked for to allow entry into the country. In what format is up to them. I very much doubt campsites will ask for it. As we move towards electronic entry checks, it may be that there may be questions re funding of your trip but I doubt it.

Do you have a link to all these requirements please?

So someone enters France from UK and if asked about funds shows he has plenty for the 4-5 days to get to Spain. 'Bon Voyage Momsieur'

Enters Spain by land, no check.

Anyway who decides what is enough, e.g. for a MHomer who drives 50km every 3 days, wildcamps, does not eat out and does not drink alcohol? €50pw?

Politicians in 'Ivory Towers' !

Will be fun for us, we don't get paper statements.

But you can get them for a fee.
Bit difficult if I am at a Spanish border. Could print some out before we go but like MOT they are only correct for that time.

The hotel we stayed in on Gran Canaria required €100 euros per day up front when checking in. Was a bit of a surprise. We were on half board so they got the surprise when I asked for my 900 euros back when checking out. No bar bills or lunch.
The people next to us in the queue had to fork out €1400.

Log onto your account and show them the balance on the screen. After all, a statement is only good for the day the balance is printed on.

Recently my balance has gone from £50K, down to £5K, up to £150K and down to less than £1,000 in a couple of weeks - buying a house;)

Wouldn't get away with that in Spain Geoff..Judith and I were called into our branch to explain the two large deposits we made...the Sub Director wanted to see a years statement from me and 3 years for Judith from the banks we made the transfer from...we were definitely treated like money laundering criminals..🇪🇦🥴🧑‍✈️

When we are transferring on-line out of accounts a large amount over certain limits we have to phone them in advance and they ask the source of the money, to which I answer 'Savings'. In UK they are interested in transfers in. We will have to do that prior to the Notary tomorrow when we pay the final payment for the house, but then just make the payment on-line as normal.
