Spain's campsite industry continues its rapid growth, setting new records in 2024. According to the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and the Spanish Federation of Campsites (FEEC), the sector welcomed over 10.2 million travellers and recorded nearly 50 million overnight stays, marking a 3% and 4.2% increase, respectively, from 2023.
Over the past five years, traveller numbers have surged by 23.5% and overnight stays by 21%, while the past decade has seen a 52.5% rise in visitors and a 43.6% increase in stays. Both domestic and international travellers contribute to this growth. Since 2015,
Spanish camper numbers have risen by 41.1%, while foreign visitors have grown by 75.4%, with a significant 41.5% increase since 2019.
The trend is also reflected in spending patterns. In 2022, revenue in the sector grew 26% compared to 2019, reaching €1.32 billion. Campers typically spend 35% of their budget on accommodation, with the remaining 65% allocated to dining, local purchases, and experiences.
