Getting Better
I have a family member who is thinking of living in Fuerteventura, they already own a villa out there.
If they wanted to live there what would they need to do or prove..? Also the restrictions of visiting back in England…

This would be a couple and 1 child..
One has a job in the uk that they could still do from Fuerteventura remotely so tax implications..?

Thanks for any input…🍻

AFAIK, the Non Lucrative Visa could be the way to go.

I think you need to prove income for a couple about €35k and buy private health.
I've met folk here who achieved it.

Yes as yorick said income is around 35k but I'm not sure if a higher amount is needed for the second person? private health care is also required. Bloke we know who did it & has been here 3 years pays around 700€/year for his but that actually includes dental treatment.
Yes the person working would need to investigate the tax requirements. If an employee i think that anything they have already paid in the Uk is deducted under the reciprocal agreement & they would only be liable for the difference.
If self employed they would probably have to register here for tax & ni .
They would need to find a decent accountant.
Visiting back in the Uk is not a problem as if resident in spain you get 180 consecutive days allowed. You only then have to leave the Uk for 24 complete hours for the clock to be reset. No problem if you fly in/out.If you drive & have a spanish reg vehicle that has to leave after the 6 months & cannot return for the next 6 months.
There is also a restriction on leaving spain whilst aquiring residency within the first two years.

did I read that right Gus?
If i get a spanish motor, (which Im looking at) it has to leave spain for 6 months

Not that I know anything but bumped into a couple of ex pats in France last year and they needed 28k each provable income and private health insurance to retire in Spain.

Those figures were what they told me. I haven't fact checked it because it's way way above my possibilities

You can't work on a non lucrative visa (NLV) but one person could get a Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) if they qualify, and bring their family with them.

If they use Facebook, may I suggest they join an excellent group After Brexit in Spain. The moderators on there have a wealth of info and experience and have files on all the different visas.

As said they have a villa out there that she built, they are hoping to sell up here and build another villa out there to live in as they’re hopping to rent out the present villa… his job pays more then the required 35k…

Will they be able to apply for the Golden Visa?

Thy do have money… ive heard of the Willy wonka golden visa, how does that work…🤔

If they have a property(ies) that they paid over €500,000 for (without loans) they can get a Golden Visa. This visa is less restrictive than the other visas on time spent in Spain/out of Spain. I don't know much more about it though.

Yes golden visa is as above (€500k in Spanish properties) or €500k invested in Spanish business or >€500k deposited in a Spanish bank account and maintained as a minimum deposit.

tax implications..?
I have close relatives who own a property in Lanzerote which they visit regularly.

I don't know the detailed ins and outs of it but tax and other charges like rubbish collection are a bit of nightmare for them. At the moment they can't find a way of selling the property without incurring a huge tax bill.

Which basically means if thinking of buying get professional advice from someone who is independent, that is, isn't involved in the property purchase.

That’s probably their best route then, but I think they want to live in their rental villa while she finds some land and build her own villa elsewhere. It’s my niece and she has an acquired knack of designing and getting houses built, she’s not a property developer but she does it for her own houses, buys land builds a house lives in it for a while gets fed up with it and then the cycle continues…

But circumstances in Surrey means they want to go to Fuerteventura now for what they see as a better life…🤔

On the point of Double-Taxation Agreements, check what they cover for Spain.

The Agreement between UK and Poland only covers Income Tax but not Inheritance Tax. Aso another difference is that Polish Law does not recognise Trusts.

These points need checking for Spain with a lawyer. Not a MH forum.

Bump, because it is already down to p.3

They really need to do their own research, and not rely on a motorhome forum for info.

The Facebook page I recommended are excellent.

They are indeed, the info im gathering is for the mother, my sister, she just wants me to find out if they can do it easily, she doesn’t want to keep asking them questions, as she doesn’t really want them to go, she will miss them and doesn’t want them to feel persuasive by my sister asking them all the time…
