Just read this in my Google feeds which states that only Spanish drivers will need to comply with the orange light rule change, drivers who carry warning triangles and high visibility vests from other countries will be exempt. Will be interesting to see how this pans out, as with everything else I am sure there will be different messages around!

Will someone please explain to me why the emergency flashers already built into every vehicle, don't count?.

I think it's to do with the intensity of the light output and the duration of flash etc.
A beacon is much more powerful and can be seen much earlier.
They can also be placed high on the problem vehicle.

This is a rule change which means you have to have an orange flashing light on top of your van which sends out a signal to the emergency services once activated, it supercedes warning triangles and is due to come into effect in Jan 2026.

because they do not notify the DGT of your position, nor can they be seen when placed correctly for 1000metres,& lastly you do not need to get out & place triangles at 50 & 100m behind said vehicle

By the time other EU countries get their own system we will need a bigger van. Just like the pollution stickers etc. according to a couple of Spanish Policemen 10/01/2025 as it is not practical to place them on the roof of our van where I have placed them one on the side nearest the road and one on the rear is ok whilst not legally required for a non Spanish Reg Van there could be a case to answer if hit ?? But unlikely.
